    6.5 type in 18" barrel?

Anybody have any experience of running one of the 6.5 calibers in a short barrel bolt gun? Wanting a lighter weight 800 yard capable rifle.... And thinking of ideas. I'm thinking 6.5x47? Hoping to make it a 400 yard or so hunting rig as well. Not so sure about the 6.5 Grendel..... Thoughts?

RCBS Chargemaster VS Lyman DPS III (powder dispensers)

yeah, sounds stupid, but look up the straw fix. Before the fix I would actually have it throw a charge at a lower weight and trickle up, now with the fix it throws long grained powder almost 100% dead on. The Lyman I believe has the same issue...

    FC headstamped 308 brass

Only problem I have had with Federal Brass in 308 is the primer pockets loosen earlier. I got about 4-5 before they were done. I had a bunch of FGMM brass that I used. THEN I bought a 1000 bucket of LC.... Its going to take a while to use that all up.... And the only .308 brass that was crap...

RCBS Chargemaster VS Lyman DPS III (powder dispensers)

I went through this line of questioning back when I was looking for one of these about 2 years ago. There are a couple of online reviews and Youtube vids that show them side by side. Personally I was trying to figure out if the RCBS was worth the extra $. I bought it and yes, its worth it...

Concentricity Gauge - Measuring Run Out

Oh, and I I can't fix the runout within 2 tries, I leave it alone... you do get a feel for how much you need to torque that little plastic screw down for 1-2 thousandths. I wonder how long that little plastic thing is supposed to last anyway.

Concentricity Gauge - Measuring Run Out

I have not found the need to put pressure with my Hornady Gauge, does yours have the right spring tension. I am a super type A person so I want less than 0.001" I can usually do that if I use a Redding bushing sizer and a Redding Comp Seater. I'm really OK with up to 0.002-0.003 but you know...

Range Report Savage 10fp 5R Range report and question about groups.

+1 on the parallax, two different "groups" (or more) with one point of aim is the indicator for that one, check cheek weld and parallax.... (After making sure everything is tight with a new rifle after a few rounds of course!)

Gunsmithing Glock 20 SF breakdown problems

No, 20-30 pounds is way more than mine, it seems that there is something binding in there, +1 on taking the back plate off.

Anyone a fan of scout rifles?

I love mine, I am honestly getting 1MOA out of it. The complaints about the accuracy were my biggest concerns, but for this MOA is fine. Remember 20 years ago if a rifle was shooting 1MOA it was considered super accurate. Now I'm used to 1/2 MOA rifles but honestly it works fine. Heck at the...

Hunting & Fishing WA/OR Duel state hunting.

well.... I don't now how the seasons are working out this year, but..... I used to hunt in the Blue Mountains on the WA side, but the hunt was always one week before OR... so the elk just walked across the border and laughed at us. Don't know if the Blue Mt herd has recovered from the fire...

    Gunsmithing Odd response from McGowen

So, I am shopping for a new 308win barrel for a savage pre-fit. There is a new McGowen outlet that has opened up with free shipping. They offer the right caliber, but I would like the barrel chopped to 21-22". I emailed and asked if they offer the service of chopping (and threading). The...

Rifle Scopes Nightforce reticle changes these days...

So, anyone know the current turnaround time for a reticle change on a nightforce these days. Prices, according to their sheet is 300-400 buck which has gone up since about 1 1/2 years ago! I'm also looking at the velocity 1000, any benefits over a horus or temor? Anyone used it?
