    338 edge load with reloader 33

    I was tempted to try some of these other powders but h-1000 is just too good. I stocked up. Now If they come out with "nitro turbo xs +p inxs" powder that lets the gun guide itself to the moon....................... Na, I'm good. Just toooooooo good to mess with.

    I think if I were in you shoes and wanted a switch barrel gun for 7mm or 300wsm and maybe 260. I would get a heavy barreled 300 mag or 300wsm , then buy a 338 edge barrel and plan on shooting the edge single shot. You would not have to change bolt heads between these two or magazines if shooting...

    Have you considered the stock? If I remember correctly the sps stock is it's biggest deficiency. I personally would do stock/trigger/scope. Foundation on up.

    Your overall length should not be a problem but the lapua is significantly larger diameter than even the magnums so the feed lips are most likely to be the problem.

    My mule scope is a 10x40 elite. When an optic or mount is in question, that is the scope I use to test and confirm. Guess that says something. One on a 338 edge and one on a 308win, no problems, great tracking, good glass for $200.

    You can order a large shank barrel in what ever contour you prefer, you may have to wait for it to be made as opposed to getting it off the shelf though. I can't confirm it but I suspect you may have to work with the lapua magazine to get it to reliably feed the smaller diameter rounds.

    I run a 16.5" 1in8 twist 308. Much to my surprise it shoves the 178 amax at 2650fps using lapua/210/43.0 varget. If your going short might as well go short.
