    Rifle Scopes Mk4 outdated?

I thought long and hard about the Mk4 6.5-20x50mm M5 as a scope for my rifle. I am active duty and qualify for their discount as well and it is a good scope in that price range. I ended up bumping up my price range due to deployment money and reserving a BEAST.

More Barrel Life with 6.5 Creedmore vs .260???

Just curious as to how much real world impact that would have on the accuracy? I am not looking to shoot bench rest.

What is the right twist rate for a .308 and why?

If your choice is 1-12 and 1-10, your deciding factor should be are you shooting subsonic loads. If yes than deffinatly go with 1-10, if not than flip a coin and either will work fine.

More Barrel Life with 6.5 Creedmore vs .260???

I think that I will be getting the .260 Remington over the 6.5 Creedmore because it seems that they have equal performance; the .260 is just logistically superior at this point with more people making ammo and components for it.

    260 Rem. vs 6.5 Creedmoor

Figured I would give this a bump with a new question on the subject. I have read that a steep shoulder angel on brass means a better powder burn and less case stretch meaning more case life with the 6.5 Creedmoor over the .260 Remington. Has anyone who has shot both seen this to be the case...

Does it hurt to dry fire a rifle? (Tikka T-3 243)

The only time dryfiring MIGHT be a concern is on a rimfire. With that said, I know a guy who has had a Ruger mk3 for 30 years and he dry fires all the time and he says he has had zero problems.

More Barrel Life with 6.5 Creedmore vs .260???

I have read that the 6.5 Creedmore has better barrel life than the .260 If this is true, can anyone please tell me how much and why this is. Is it the sharper shoulder angle, preasure levels, voodo black magic? I am going to eventually get a 2nd barrel for either the 6.5 Creedmore...

To cut or not to cut

A muzzle brake will help recoil when you don't have the can on. As far as the barrel shortening; ask yourself are you willing to give up the velocity for more portability and slightly less weight.

    338 Norma -vs- 338 Lapua (Savage 110BA)

I figured I would resurrect this thread to get some updated information. I am looking into the possibility down the road of an AXMC .338 rifle and the Lapua and the Norma stand out. What are the pros and cons of each? Earlier the barrel life of the Norma over the Lapua was mentioned. What...

    Buying a 308 gas gun

For $2500 I would see if you can find a used SCAR 17s. Brand new they are about $3000 but they are the cadillac of battle rifles. I shoot 3/4" groups at 100yds with mine.

    AIAX Barrel Lengths

The performance difference is maybe 30fps with 24" to 26" in .308 20" will get you out to 1000yd with decent portability, 24" will do a better job out to 1000yd. If portability and weight is not a concern and you only fire off a bench or prone, then go ahead with the 26"

    Your first long range rifle

I was only referring to the customization you can do with the rifle, since everybody makes aftermarket Civic parts. No disrespect to the 700 intended.

    Your first long range rifle

For someone starting out I would recomend a Remington 700 in .308 with a heavy barrel like the AAC-SD for the following reasons. A Rem 700 is the Honda Civic of the bolt rifle world; you can customize anything on it and upgrade as you want and as funds allow. The .308 because it is the most...

Rifle Scopes Help choosing a scope.

Leupold has stepped up their game with their new scope lines. There are a few great threads here that review the Mk6 so I would check those out. The Mk6 was a top contender for a long time for my scope choise but decided on the Nightforce BEAST. Nightforce is another great company to look into.

    custom vs bought?

One thing you get with a Surgeon, AI, or other top custom shop is attention to detail to everything on the rifle. It is not just the accuracy of the rifle. I have seen a base model 700 with nothing but a bedding job done shoot 1/2 MOA with reloads. There is also some peice of mind knowing...
