    equipment vs. skill

For me it's about making the gun fit me right and solving problems I encounter and accomplishing what I want to accomplish. I don't compete to show how good I am to other people--I'd fail miserably and I'd hate it if that were the case--but rather to find out for myself where I'm at now versus...

    Keep the M1a or not?

If you don't have a son or daughter of your own, find one. Find a youth or young adult who has no one in their family who has taught them the shooting culture and mentor them. If they turn out satisfactory, give it to them. Neighbor, coworker's kid, church goer, etc. Giving the gift of our...

Suppressors Will suppressors be stamp free in the near future?!

That depends on which segment of the public you're talking about. Gun owners are pretty numerous, and we're gaining numbers every day. Carry licenses are way up too, so it's not just a matter of heirloom safe queens or once a year out of the rack hunting stuff. We may have the demographics...

Suppressors Will suppressors be stamp free in the near future?!

The only politicians with any vested interest in keeping the NFA alive would be the Congressman whose district includes Martinsburg, WV, and that's only a few dozens people in the NFA branch. Conversely, there's multitudes more who have firearms companies in their districts, all of whom would...

Suppressors Will suppressors be stamp free in the near future?!

I'm not sure the amount of revenue they make off of cans is really all that significant. Perhaps if they processed stamps at point of sale it would add up b/c the volume sold would be 5000x higher, but not with it bottlenecked the way it is now.

Moving from TX to CA for job - considering selling firearms due to laws there...

My wife and I made the mistake of living there for about a year and a half. We were in Cupertino, in fact. Cupertino Village has the best Chinese/Japanese/Korean food in California and probably the country: it's where all the multimillionaire Asian tech pros eat when they want to eat the best...

    17 WSM anybody tried it?

Speaking as someone in the business of selling guns, I can say that Savage should have NEVER put out the BMag. It should have instead have been a version of their 93. I don't know what they were thinking, honestly. They know how to put out a quality rimfire rifle but did the opposite of...

    cleaning rimfires

Depends on which one of mine it is at the time. My wife's favorites, the Ruger Mark II's we have, use Froglube because it's such a pain to take them apart so something that requires as infrequent disassembling as possible is preferred. Older stuff gets MPro7 as it's nicely penetrating without...

Classic rifle dilemma -- To thread or not to thread?

I just received a family heirloom Remington 513-T which I have always enjoyed myself but nobody cared much for other than me. My grandpa got it for my uncle but it ended up being too heavy for him as a kid and not interesting as an adult, so it sat in grandpa's gun case from the 50's to the...

    17 WSM anybody tried it?

Maybe Thompson Center should do a Contender barrel in it.

    Suppressors SilencerCo Harvester

Alas, they would put this on the market a month after I put in the paperwork for a SpecWar 762.

    SVDs questions?

If you can touch them, they're real, eh? :) Anyway, back to the whole issue of whether the design is inherently accurate and how much can be corrected with ammo. I'm in the middle of cooking up some x54R handloads to see what can be done out of that round when treated with proper respect...

My guess on the brake is that it's a heat sink to allow it to cool more efficiently.

    How to learn precision shooting?

Don't forget to spend a lot of time with a .22. The fundamentals pertaining to the discipline of shooting are every bit as relevant and it doesn't put as huge a dent in your wallet so you'll be less often prone to skipping shooting when budget disruptions happen.

Suppressors news about NFA trust changes

Well, I had hurried up and paid for a trust and 1st can just to get it in before the 12/9 date, quite greatly against my short term financial interests, but I'm glad at least my wait starts from then rather than now or later. I guess I'll have it--a SpecWar 762--paid off before I get it and...

Suppressors Form 4 Wait times from ATF - PDF as of 123113

It's rather curious how the NFA branch is the one and only branch of government that doesn't want to hire more employees. Similarly curious it is how taking money from someone and not giving them anything for over 6 months is usually considered mail fraud for everyone else except them.
