kydex and Velcro or two sided tape. I got enough kydex to make two cheek risers for less than 10 bucks from amazon.

    Savage bolt binding

You can get an oversize bolt body from PTG that would eliminate the slop which is causing the binding or you can do what I did and change your technique. I use my thumb directly behind the bolt to push the bolt forward. This pretty much eliminates the binding issue.

Interest in an aftermarket Savage pattern short action?

From Shilen's website. There is hope for us yet. BTW, the Shilen is just a Stiller action made to Shilen's specs.

Pupil of the Art of the Tactical Rifle Dot ORG *Video*

If you would have used hand loads and had a S&B scope instead of the NF, you wouldn't have had that cold bore flyer.

Let me preface that I am not a lawyer or pretend to be a lawyer. Most of what I know about the law came from some business law classes I took 20 years ago. That being said, I doubt Moses will get a letter since he is a customer and not a competitor and everything he has said has been factual...

Objective discussion about savage vs rem 700 actions?

My only experience with a GAP is one owned by a kid at my local range. He was doing load development with 175 smk's and his largest groups were clover leafs. About half of his groups being in the .1's. This was with an Harris bipod on a concrete bench. It was the sickest thing I've ever seen.

    Rifle Scopes opticsplanet.com

I like OP a lot. My only criticism is their free shipping is real slow, but I'm spoiled on Amazon prime.

Questions on the lower end of the market

If don't ever intend to modify it and just want to shoot, I would go with Tikka. If you want to modify it yourself without a gunsmith, get a Savage or Stevens. If you want to pay a gunsmith to make it shoot, get a Remington.

Damn military brass is done!! Of course I've got pics.

I slap my trimmers bits and stuff on a bench mount drill press. I have two that I've free from various places. You can get them on craigslist for next to nothing. Makes things very easy.

    308 155 gr scenar and IMR 4064

I bought some 155 gr scenars to try out in my savage 24". Unfortunately it's almost impossible to find powder these days, so I'm stuck with what I have which is 4064. Does anyone have any load data for this combo. I'm using federal brass and wlr primers. Thanks a bunch.

Nice gun. I wish I could shoot like that. I'm pretty happy when all my holes touch.

Savage guys??? Which savage to buy??

It doesn't matter about the bottom metal. If you plan on a mcrees or xlr stock.

    .308 w/ IMR 4064 and 175 SMK

I don't want to hijack this thread but didn't feel like starting a new thread about the same powder and bullets. I did an OCW test using 41.4 to 43 grains of 4064 in .2 grain increments. I seems that my nodes are at 41.6 and 43+ grains since my group is getting closer together at 43 but I didn't...

Rifle Scopes Anyone ever purchase from B and H in Newyork ?

B and H is one of the largest, if not the largest camera shop in the country. Anyone that is into cameras know who they are and have probably bought something from them. They are definitely on the up and up. That being said, I think its always better to buy from a board sponsor all else being equal.

Rifle Scopes Adjusted -0 paralax versus focus

Yes, glasses do introduce parallax issues. Unfortunately, glasses are designed to be corrective straight in front of you eyes. In a shooting position, you tend to look through the top of the lenses and not in the center which could cause issues. This is why I where contacts when shooting but the...

    Tikka t3 vs savage 12fv

You aren't really comparing apples to apples since the 12fv is a heavy barrel varmint rifle and the comparably priced T3 is a light barreled sportster. The comparable T3 is the varmint model which is a few hundred more. If you just want a rifle that shoots and you don't care to ever change...
