Help! Trouble shooting with my kiddos 🥴

I am left eye but right handed. I used to be right eye, but the eye doc says I have keratoconus, which is worse in my right eye, so my brain switched eyes. I shoot right handed, but my vision ends up blurred after shooting until my brain switches back over the course of about 15 minutes. I...

    Gunsmithing Crowning a barrel

A much lesser degree, yes. But it's many times easier to keep an 11* crown centered and straight than a 45-60* chamfer. As the angle increases, the error multiplies exponentially. a flat crown would be ideal for accuracy, but offers no protection. The 11* crown offers some protection while...

    Gunsmithing Crowning a barrel

In a perfect world the chamfer would be fine. It's the imperfect bullets that cause the uneven gas release.

    Gunsmithing Crowning a barrel

Any chamfer will cause gasses to escape unevenly. The lands will disengage first, with a jet of gas from each one. Then the grooves will disengage with a high pressure release all the way around the bullet. This will upset just about any bullet to some degree, because most bullets are not...

Gunsmithing Barrel thread and shoulder machining?

I was thinking the same thing. He must have been turning without a live center to have that kind of chatter, but it looks more like the marks are pressed in. Either way, I would NOT put anything on there. I think you should take them to a smith and get his opinion.

    CZ 455 Throwing Fliers

If it started when you removed the stock, it may need bedding or re-bedding if it's bad. i put pillars in mine and it helped. I then epoxy bedded it and it was night and day difference. Sounds different too. Much less vibration.

    Gunsmithing Crowning a barrel

I make the (11*) cut and then hold a piece of scotchbrite on it for a second to polish it and break any microscopic burrs. Works great. If you are concerened about crown damage, you need to be more careful how you treat your rifle.

Gunsmithing Aerosol Release Agent For Bedding?

I use shoe polish because I have it and it's cheap. A can will last a LONG time. I don't like to get stuff everywhere, and an aerosol does get everywhere.

Gunsmithing Barrel thread and shoulder machining?

I'd be after him for money back and money to replace the ruined goods. There is no excuse for that. Absolutely none.

Gunsmithing Removing stuck live cartridge from Remington 721

I'm just gonna say it....This is one downfall of a push feed action.

If you could only own 1 gun for the rest of your life, what would it be?

That's a loaded question. Is this a type of shtf or just a caliber preference? Does this include ammo availability or barrel replacements? It would either be a 22lr or 22-250 with a can. I love the 22lr because it is quiet and can take just about anything on the planet if used correctly. I...

Advanced Marksmanship crazy shots!!!! lets hear about them...

I remember one day my youngest brother came over and I was out shooting my 22lr at some steel. He seemed interested so I put 5 more rounds in the mag and handed it to him. It was sighted for The 8" gong at ~170 yards. He leaned against the hood of the truck and popped off 5 rounds as fast as...

What's the most stupid thing you've been told?

I've been told numerous times that a 22-250 won't kill deer. I was looking at ammo one day and a guy came over and said "you're not hunting deer with that are you? You need at least a 30 caliber" I knew what he was getting at and just said "no, I'm not hunting deer" and walked away.

    Standing Offhand Shooting

I have practiced holding/shooting off hand for years. That's how I hunted. I Eventually bought a bipod for long range prone shooting, and love it, but offhand standing is an art that I love. I used to spend hours holding/aiming/dry firing offhand and in different positions. I would grab my...

What's the most stupid thing you've been told?

It was free range and that was years ago. I don't even know who the RO was that day. I was just there to shoot. I was almost laughing at the fact that the guy with the targets didn't even know how much a 22 dropped at 200 yards. I have labeled turrets with the yardage clearly marked, so I...

What's the most stupid thing you've been told?

I was at the local range with my 22lr a while back. I started at the 10o yard bench and then moved to the 20o yard bench. I walked out to hang my target and when I got back the RO lectured me on "22 drop". He said I'd never hit the target. He pulled out a foot wide strip of cardboard about 3...

    Standing Offhand Shooting

I always shot without a sling until someone gave me one. Never could make it work better than shooting without. I keep it on the rifle, but don't really use it except to carry it.

    I want a trainer. ---100 yards

I would go the CZ route. I have a 455 American and it will hold moa to 300 yards with it's favorite ammo. You can get one for $400 and put some good glass on it and be shooting good groups in no time.

Trigger for a cz 455 precision trainer?

PMTJ= Poor mans trigger job. Google it or look it up on rimfire central. I did mine and one for a friend and they both break at 8oz and are safe.
