    Unless you reload 308 is the way to go. Most factory 243s have too slow a twist for long range bullets. If you start with a factory Rem, you can upgrade slowly and always rebarrel to 6.5 or whatever down the road... I mean after you have properly learned how to make wind calls.:p

    I run a 210 berger in my 308 win at 2374 fps and 300 rum runs 215 berger hybrids around 3100 fps. 308 win with 40 gr of powder 300 rum with 89 gr of powder I would say you would fall somewhere around 2800+. I'm seating bullets to mag length, nothing long.

    Yeah the combo of 40+ gr of pistol powder and a fairly light pro hunter makes for quick recoil. Similar to a 5-6 lb 30-06 throwing a 200 gr bullet. A lot of eye relief is key.
