Stock recommendations for a post-64 long action model 70

I ordered ready to go Manners T3 for a FN SPR (M70 short action) about five years ago. The inlet for the bottom metal was too deep. Sent it back for a fix, but it never quite fit right. Sold it because I just didn’t like the T3 shape. That’s my one off experience. I also have or have had 4-5...

Suppressors Best factory 9mm ammo for suppressed use?

I bought a few hundred rounds of Privi 158gr subsonic ammo (from AIM Surplus) to try out. I'm shooting a Beretta M9A3 with AAC Illusion 9. I shot half a box so far with good results. It was quieter and more accurate than the Privi 147gr JHP rounds I also bought. Not sure how they stack up...

Suppressors 10/22 Integral: Thompson or Gemtech

Thanks! I have a CZ455 cut to 16" that I mount the Sparrow SS on, it's very quiet and accurate. Would be a great integral.

Suppressors 10/22 Integral: Thompson or Gemtech

I have a $400 gift certificate with Silencer Shop. Thinking about a 10/22 integral for one of my actions. Any experience/recommendations between the Thompson or Gemtech (non takedown)? I like that the Thompson is ported. Price is close enough to not be a factor. I'm leaning Thompson Operative...

Rifle Scopes Leupold VX-R with Firedot reticle

I have a VX-R 3-9x40 with the Ballistic Firedot on my Marlin XL7 in .30-06. Hunted the Gros Ventre and Medicine Bow areas of WY(AD military in CA, but WY resident) this Fall with my inlaws. I was happy with how the VX-R worked in the cold and snowy conditions. No problem with the firedot...

recommend a good savage short action stock

I put my 10FP action in a takeoff HS Precision varmint stock (from a 12LRP) and a 24" CBI .223 Wylde barrel. This is the stock with the more traditional grip, not the more pronounced vertical grip. Mounted a Vortex HS 5-15x44 in Talley one-piece 30mm rings and had the KMW Loggerhead added by...

    Savage bottom release bolt lever.

So...are you just looking for a better stock and want to keep the current configuration, update to a floorplate, or are you looking to add some sort of DBM setup? Is it currently a blind magazine setup?

Some questions on a 6.5 CM custom build

I would make sure whatever action you get has the older style side bolt-release, and not the new style triggerguard release. More stock options for the old style, although you can rework some for the newer style. My .260 is built on a Savage 11 Hog Hunter action with a McGowen .260 Varmint...

    F T/R Competition Savage FTR 308 win

All kinds of good info already out there for the Savage F/TR in .308, just do a google search on here or accurateshooter.com. Mine likes the Nosler 155CC, Berger 155.5 FB, Nosler 175CC, and 175SMK. The Berger 185s are popular also. Match primers of some sort, Lapua brass, and Varget are...

Bench rest or match grade primers. Are they REALLY better than standard?

Not that it proves anything scientifically, but I've noticed two differences between my .308 loads when fired with the CCI BR2 and Win LR primers. This has been with Varget, 4064, and RL15. 1) Lower SD with the CCI BR2. Normally the Win LRs are in the mid-low teens, while the CCI BR2s are sub...

New Savage 10 owner - short throat blues?

Probably the best option if you want/need to shoot the factory 175s. I would classify need as meaning you plan on shooting a lot from 800-1000 yds. Inside that, just stick with the 168s or 155s if they shoot well. Besides, if you're in Northern Nevada the density altitude will be pretty high...

    .30-06 as a precision rifle ?

Ridgerunner665, Interested in specs on your build...looks like Win 70? I have a Win 670 I am thinking about doing something similar with for a practical rifle. Countour and length? Stock? Thanks!

    tikka t3 .223 8 twist 75 amax

Not sure if this is the same mod that is mentioned earlier in the thread...but here is one from 24hourcampfire: Tikka T3 .223 Magazine Modification - How To: - 24hourcampfire

    tikka t3 .223 8 twist 75 amax

I don't think you can load the 75 AMAX to normal (2.260) mag length in a .223 Rem. It may actually be physically possible, but not really how the bullet was designed to be used. The Tikka .223 mag doesn't have much room either.

    F T/R Competition Savage F/TR - Pet load?

Was loading a new batch of 155.5 FB ammo this week. With a .030" jump (which is the measurement I go by), my COAL is right around 2.915" in my Savage .308 FTR chamber. The bearing surface of the 155.5 is only in the top half of the case mouth. Normally I've been using Lapua brass/CCI BR2...

Got a few hundred dollars burning a hole in my pocket, want a .308.

That CZ is a beautiful rifle! I was going to get a Ruger GSR, but decided to go with a Tikka T3 Lite in .308 instead. Plan is to have the barrel chopped to 18 or 20". Same handiness as the GSR, but in a better built product for about the same cost. Can always add CDI bottom metal down the...

Best prices I've seen on the Sightron SIII models (besides a dealer account at Grafs) has been at bigsupplyshop.com. No experience with them myself, so you should check the intewebs for others experiences.

How much Springfield NM M1A 6 digit serial number sniper rifle with SA scope worth

Yeah...definitely contact SA, Inc to find out the exact vintage of this rifle. A plethora of USGI parts would usually indicate an older rifle and possibly higher value. But not that high. FYI...it wasn't even going to cost that much for me to have a NM M14 built off a lugged receiver, CMP...
