Rifle Scopes I can't find the perfect budget scope and I know it exists.

This price from bigsupplyshop.com for the Burris might be more in line with your budget. Burris MTAC3.5X-10X-42mm 200454

    F T/R Competition Savage F/TR - Pet load?

Well, I will need to look up the exact COAL of my 175 loads (based on a .020" jump), but the jist of my post was that I couldn't load much longer (if any) than the standard 2.800" due to the chamber freebore. Nothing to do with being a single shot or not. My chamber just barely (.005" jump)...

    F T/R Competition Savage F/TR - Pet load?

    My Savage F-TR likes both the Berger 155.5 FB and the Nosler 175CC/Sierra 175SMK. Currently shooting the 155s. Berger 155.5FB (~3050 fps) - Lapua Brass - CCI BR2 - Varget @ 47.4gr - .030" off the lands (~2.915" OAL) Nosler 175CC (~2775 fps) - Lapua Brass - CCI BR2 - Varget @ 44.1gr...

Rifle Scopes Leupold VX-R opinions wanted...

I have a VX-R 3-9x40 with Ballistic Firedot on my Marlin XL7 in .30-06 (mounted in Talley one-piece bases). Very happy with the scope after hunting this season in WY. The Ballistic Firedot isn't the best reticle for precision range work, but really worked nice in the field on game animals...

Rifle Scopes Leupold VXR scope question???

You sure the green dot is not a Leupold Mark AR? I thought all the VX-Rs were red and the Mark ARs were green, but could be totally wrong. Really like my VX-R 3-9x-40 with the ballistic firedot. Worked great on my .30-06 this season. Will be getting more for my other hunting rifles.

    50-55GR with xbr8208

I use 25.5gr with the Nosler 52CC as my reduced course service rifle load. Velocity is around 3100 fps. 24.6gr was also a good node for me. This is in a 20" barrel, 1-7" twist, and Wylde chamber.

    Loading 223 using 8208

It seems like the (sorta) standard 8208 highpower load for 77s and 80s is right around 23.2gr. Maybe more with long-seated 80s. That load gives me about 2750 fps out of my 20" service rifle. I would imagine you could get more with a bolt gun and long-seating. My experience has been good, but...

Rifle Scopes Why do Winchester Brand Scope Rings Cost $130?

Look like rebranded Talleys to me. Same with their integrated bases = Talley. The listed prices are MSRP of course, so sealer prices might be lower. Or just get the same Talleys.

Rifle Scopes Can the bushnell elite 6500 be beat for the price?

Consider the new Vortex Viper HS-T 4-16 scopes. Around $560 retail and comes with good features for a SFP scope.

    Stepping up my world.

Think about a Savage or a Tikka T3... My Savage 12 FCV (1-9") shoots great even with the Hornady 75gr BTHP. Read good things about the Tikkas also and they come with a 1-8", which is a little more flexible.

NEED RECOMMENDATION FOR 100-200 yd .308 bullet for score

Also...give the Speer 125gr TNT consideration for 200 yards and in. Flat base hollowpoint bullet and available in 500 packs for around $100 (pre-shortages).

Gunsmithing HS stock on Savage accustock

I recently put my Savage 12 FCV (accustock model with bottom bolt release) into a LRP takeoff stock (HS Varmint). Just lightly dremeled the trigger guard opening until it fit in smoothly. Notched the alum bedding block just a tad where the bolt release mechanism was lightly touching. Works...

    223 bolt action ?

My Savage 12 FCV in .223 (1/9") shoots lights out with Hornady 75gr HPBT factory ammo. Better than 1/2 MOA if I don't mess it up. Set it up with Talley one piece base/rings and a cheap Bushnell 10X. Comes with the AccuTrigger, AccuStock, and the factory DBM. Only downside to this action is...

Sidearms & Scatterguns XDs after market night sights

I sent my XD9 slide off to Springer Precision for them to install a set of Tru-Glo TFOs. Great little set of night sights. Turn around was fairly quick. Springer Precision :: The XD Specialists

    OCW testing FAIL

Truth! I had the same problem with a batch of 2k Win LR primers I had purchased back in 2010 or so. About 9 failures like yours in 600+ fired. Contacted Olin Corp through their website and got a call a few weeks later. They picked up the tab to ship the 1300+ remaining primers back to them...

    Required MV for 175 @ 1,000 yards?

Used some Federal GMM 175 loads in my FN SPR (24" with 1/12 twist) last winter at 1k that only gave me about 2560 fps. Worked fine at the Sac Valley range all the way out, but went subsonic at 900+ yards (DA at 0' and about 45 deg F, so more dense than standard conditions). Still shot fine...

FN SPR.. McRees or FNH TBM???

Same deal with the 5rd that came with my TBM upgrade. Although, the 5rd I just picked up from Midway drops free very smoothly. For some reason the original 5rd mag is a bit oversized. Probably just end up sanding it down a bit.
