    Imr 4064

I have been using IMR4064 with 175/178s in my FN SPR A1 since a friend sold me a keg for cheap. Works great in the 43-44gr range. My load is: FN SPR - 24" with 1-12 twist Nosler .308 brass (~164gr) Win LR primer 43.5gr IMR 4064 2.85" COAL 178 BTHP/175SMK/175CC Averages right around...

Rifle Scopes savage 12 ftr base and rings for NF 56 obj.

I have the Farrell RTS 1-20 base and the medium 30 mm rings. The base was already on the rifle when I bought it lightly used, so decided to try the rings. With a dealer account at grafs ( c&r FFL), it is a lot cheaper. Cost for rings and base is a little less than $200 + shipping. I would...

    Kudos to Kestrel

I also received good service from N-K on a used 4000 I bought on ebay. Unfortunately mine was past the warranty period, so I did have to pay for the service. The screen was failing and it failed the leak test. They gave me the option to buy a new one (cheaper than retail). I was...

Just Ordered My First Long Range Rifle--A Savage 12 LRP!

Doyputasos, Nice looking LRP! How do you like the DarkEagle magazine? Trying to decide between those or going with the CDI setup on my LRP. Also, what app are you using on the target photos? Thanks!

Rifle Scopes savage 12 ftr base and rings for NF 56 obj.

I would look at the Farrell base and rings. The savage precision target 20 moa base and medium steel rings works well with my Sightron 8-32x56. http://www.grafs.com/retail/catalog/product/productId/4545 Depending on how much you want to spend. Maybe an EGW base.

Rifle Scopes Vortex Viper HS 5-15x44 Mil-Dot

Re: Vortex Viper HS 5-15x44 Mil-Dot Ordered a second one of these scopes...fairly happy with the first one. Not that I needed to spend the money!

F T/R Competition Sightron Scope choices...

Re: Sightron Scope choices... I like my T24 also...it is a nice piece of glass! The 8-32 just offers more flexibility with mirage and what not.

F T/R Competition Sightron Scope choices...

Re: Sightron Scope choices... Well...got the opportunity to shoot the FTR at Sac Valley a couple weeks ago in a "Folsom Special" match. Ten shots at 300/500/600/800 for 40 total. Worked well to build some confidence at 300 with the rifle, scope, and my own performance before moving to the...

    Brass Dryer

Re: Brass Dryer Here is my homemade setup: $15 fan, a few $ worth of nylon screen material, and some extra wood I had laying around. I put the brass in a towel and shake it around a few times before putting it on the dryer. I get back to it whenever I have time and it is great. Totally...

    F T/R Competition Supressors

Re: Supressors The November issue of Shooting Sports USA had a feature article concerning the use of suppressors in formal competition. So, I would say it is at least on the radar for the NRA, since it is their publication. In the article they compare suppressor use here in the US and in...

F T/R Competition Sightron Scope choices...

Re: Sightron Scope choices... Thanks for the advice and info on 1/8 vs 1/4. I ended up ordering two 8-32 scopes with the intention of deciding which reticle works best for me - the MOA-2 or the FCH. My current scope is a T24 with Dot, so that type is covered. Want to experiment with the...

F T/R Competition Sightron Scope choices...

Recently picked up a used Savage F-TR .308 rifle and am looking to put a solid scope on it. Currently using a Weaver T24 off another Savage .308 I was shooting previously. This has been a decent scope for the few 600 yd matches I've shot, but I know it has limits. Would like to start attending...

    Warning Order

Re: Warning Order Awesome! I was thinking of doing the Phoenix Creedmoor games next year, but this will be way easier to convince the wife. Family in Rock Springs, so I can drop the family off and go shoot for a few days. Maybe an early season hunting trip too. Just picked up a 1903A4...

    Loading range for xbr 8208

Re: Loading range for xbr 8208 The two best nodes for my WOA 20" (1-7) were around 22.6gr (2660 fps) and 23.2gr (2750 fps). I went with the 23.2 since it shot a little better over a few large groups and had a lower SD. Conventional wisdom over on the NM Forums puts the best charge at 23.2gr...

Gunsmithing Savage 110 Accurate mag vs CDI inlet?

Re: Savage 110 Accurate mag vs CDI inlet? I emailed CDI asking the correct pillar height in my Savage model 10 short action. The lady sent an entire .pdf showing how to inlet for their bottom metal. Can't seem to find the file on my computer right now, but I bet they will probably send you...

    .223 ar15 loads

Re: .223 ar15 loads I had good accuracy with the Nosler 55gr FBHP bullets, which I think are the same as the Dogtown. I don't think the Dogtowns are BTs though...could be wrong. I loaded them using Win748 up around 26.0gr. Shot the same as the Nosler 52gr CC match bullets. I use 8208XBR...

    Varget anyone?

Re: Varget anyone? I shot a used Bushmaster NM upper for one season of reduced matches. I settled on 26.5gr of WIN748 pushing a Nosler 52gr CC bullet. No idea of the velocity, but easily shot 3/4" at 100 when I did the testing with a scope. I sold the upper to a friend last year and he is...

F T/R Competition shot my first f/tr comp today!!!

Re: shot my first f/tr comp today!!! Nice...I should have made the time to make it down to Sac Valley this weekend! Did they class you as "F-T/R" or in "Tactical"? I think the tac shooters use the standard highpower targets, not the smaller f-class version. Good shooting either way though!

    Savage 12 F T/R .308 shooters using SMK 175gr

Re: Savage 12 F T/R .308 shooters using SMK 175gr Recently measured my F-T/R with the same tool. Just acquired this rifle used (~350 rds) and have not fired it yet. Measured consistently at 2.228" with the 175 SMK. Which is about .003" shorter than my 12 FVSS and only .003" longer than FGMM...
