Re: Remington 700 The SPS Varmint I just got is the fourth 700 I have owned since 1987. I have never owned one of Remington's top of the line rifles so I can't speak to that. Re: Remington 700 I got a SPS Varmint this past December. The bolt operated as good as any 700 I've ever had. It it is very smooth. No plastic trigger guard on mine it is aluminum probably not a whole lot better but not plastic. The stock on the other hand looked and felt like it was made...- BobC

Question about Remington 700 old style trigger
I received and installed an old style trigger on my SPS Varmint after the X-Mark Pro trigger it came with broke. The problem though hopefully not a problem is than the trigger is good as installed. Very good in fact.3 lbs according to a friends trigger pull gauge, very crisp and no over-travel...- BobC

My new 700 sps varmint
Re: My new 700 sps varmint just be careful with the trigger. Mine now has an old style (pre 2006) trigger. The H-S Precision stock should work fine.- BobC

Re: What to use instead of torque wrench? I have a Wheeler FAT torque wrench and it works fine for the purpose you want one for. As was said before a cheap one is better than none.- BobC
