    XM-3 Rifle

That is a wonderful rifle. I suspect it will break $20K so I know it will not be mine. Thanks for posting the link.

    Classic Arms 91/30 PU sniper

This post is so full of misinformation I must correct some of it. First, the PU production began in 1942, not 32. Production was very large. The Hungarian M52s were made in 1953 and 54 so production did not end in 47. Soviet production was low after 1944. In 1942 Tula made 2020 PUs and...

Forgive me in advance for being potentially offensive in my ignorance...

Thanks MAT. I am not seeing the ballistics chart but I am seeing they whipped up somthing better fairly recently, which I had been told. I see some numbers on bullet type, weight etc. and development apparently from Black Hills. I also know ammo was a problem about a year ago and they were...

Forgive me in advance for being potentially offensive in my ignorance...

I am wondering if anyone has the balllistics chart and stats for the new US Military ammo in 300 WM. I probably could have gotten it recently, unless it is classified, but had so many questions there was not enough time for everything. I was told that the new round had nearly the performance...

Model 70 Pre64 Target rebuild underway

It looks like you are on the road to having a really nice rifle. I agree, if you just want a shooter a USMC 8X vs a commercial, the difference is no were near the cost difference. That is a nice looking target stock. Apparently Carlos primarily used the sporter stock in Nam. My original...

    Mosin Scopes on ebay

Check AIM often as they do have specials, currently $550. No way will a replica ever hold its value like a correct refurb. The examples so far have been nice, correct, Soviet era refurbished PUs in documented serial blocks with WW2 era scopes and mounts. Other venders have them too, like RT...

    Mosin Scopes on ebay

You do not want a Widners replica anyway IMO. For just a bit more you can get a real refurbed PU. Word is that some will soon be available from AIM. You CA folks need to get the NRA and your state origaniization to get behind a legal action to overturn this BS. The Federal law, like the...

    Mosin Scopes on ebay

Are you a member at gunboards? Several hundred folks have bought a PU in the last 2 years. At least once a week one comes up for sale on the trader there. A member is the guy who bought the lastest 1000ish imports. I think there are more to come via AIM, Classic, somebody. Getting a...

    Mosin Scopes on ebay

If you have one in mind post a pic and I can tell you what it is. Pictures of the markings and turret will help. Anything with Ny as a prefix is a repro. Any repro will always be worth repro price. If you are considering a PU, under todays market, buy a complete refurbished PU rifle and you...

    Remington m40 commemorative

Many of the military accurange scopes were blued, typically matte. I nearly bought the most documented m40 I have ever seen. It was unfired since it was awarded to a match winner, in the brown case, plaque in the winner's name, paperwork in his name, everything was there. It had a gloss blue...

    Mauser 98k bolt issue

The ejector is located in what I used to call the bolt release on the left. It is actually called the ejector housing from what I have been told. I assume the ejector is spring loaded so it could be a spring issue. I have never had a problem with a K98 ejector so I have never taken the box...

    Mauser 98k bolt issue

Yea, check the ejector. It may be possible the ejector housing is so full of junk it is not letting the ejector extend outward? In any event, it is not likely the Yugo ammo since the 1970s, 90s and M75 is some of the best surplus 8mm ever.

    M73 on M1D

Thanks Jim for the clarity and addition. Pine, get an Alaskan or clone(M82 repro) and be happy. I would not rule out an M84 since they do turn up for a fair price occasionally. I got a very rusty one, that functions for $100. It is very ugly, no adjuster covers, no eye cup, but it works...

    M73 on M1D

Part of the problem is the terminology. An M73 is the original designation for the Lyman Alaskan. The M81(crosshair), M82, and the commercial Alaskan and the m73 are pretty much the same scope and are best for the M1C and are OK for the 1903A4. They are 7/8 inch tubes. The M73b1, M73b2 and...

1903A1 and Daisy Red Ryder Still Life Studies

Cool pics. I have 2 Red Ryders I shot, one in WY and one in NC. Anyone that thinks that they are inferior to what we had in my time, the 1960s, has not tried one recently. The new ones are more accuarate and more potent. Never mind they are made in China either. They are pretty amazing and...

Forgive me in advance for being potentially offensive in my ignorance...

Good post Ro. Yea, there is no way a WW2 sniper rifle and shooter can have a 50% hit probability at that range. Getting 5% would be an accomplishment. I am more focused on the ability of the rifle and scope without today's technological advantages as you outline, meteorological and other...

James Yeager on Mosin Nagant PU (Language Warning!)

Carlos was probably talking about Ludmilla P.. She had over 300 confirmed kills and was welcomed to the White House on her US bond tour. She had a large number of countersniper kills. He also faced a female sniper in Nam. He took her out when she returned from a pottie break. There are...
