    300 WM brass..in stock anywhere!?

I bought some Norma from sinclair in 100ct boxes. seems pricey, but all I can find. They had others couple of days ago when I posted, I guess you guys read my feeble mind.

Take a gander at this load for 300WM

H1000. If you are hunting, I would get a factory crimp die and put on a light crimp so that when you pull the projectile you see a very light mark and no indentation. Contrary to some, this has given me the best consistency and accuracy without loading into the lands. Light crimping can be...

Range Report What shooting defect is this or is it he load?

Picked up some 168gr amax for my .300 win mag as I had to wait for my normal 190gr SMKs to get here, seems they are in short supply. At 100yds: My fist load was light with unfired brass at 2,754fps using 75gr H1000 but they grouped ok at .32moa for a 4 shot group after the first cleaner...

Rifle Scopes Bushnell Elite vs. Vortex PST FFP

I have the bushnell tactical elite 6-24x50 ffp with g2dmr reticle. Don't see how the g2dmr is lacking in any way. I think that the glass in all the higher end scopes are very hard to tell apart. It would be nice to have zero stops but I shoot mutiple loads so I am constantly fiddling anyway...

Rifle Scopes Trade a SFP Nightforce for a FFP SWFA SS?

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ I like this one, the Bushnell Tactical Elite 6-24 FFP with G2DMR, the new Zeiss, and there is a third that I can't think off, all can be had new for under $1k. I have the Bushnell but unless you are ranging from the reticle, I might go back to secondary.

    Rifle Scopes Scope Ring Question

.300 win mag needs a one-piece mount, in my opinion. Mounts that use a base, mostly Picatinny these days, with two separate ring mounts generally aren't as stiff as a one-piece. Usually you don't need to bed a one-piece mount as well. With a heavy scope you should also get a mount that uses 4...

Problem ejecting .308 spent cartridges out of barand new model 10 Savage

Look for marks on a case that came out with normal effort. You might want to polish the cartridge first, shoot it, extract, and post a picture. If you have one that is tight but came out without having to ram it, post the side view plus the base (primer) pictures. I think you are going to...

    300 WM brass..in stock anywhere!?

I've been looking for .300 win mag as well as 190 smk's. Had to buy the 190s in 500 count, found the brass but it seemed pricey so I paused. Lately I've been buying remington core loc cartridges in either 150gr or 180s, banging them apart, sizing, etc. Seems like a waste, I know, but it is...

Problem ejecting .308 spent cartridges out of barand new model 10 Savage

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Look for pressure signs as stated above: hard to eject; cratered primers; flat primers; split cases; holes in primers; gas leaking around primers; Note that the first serious sign of pressure problems is a stuck cartridge.

Rifle Scopes Scope for R700 5R-Under $1000 but will goto $1500

+1 on Bushnell, for under $1k, you can get a 6-24x50 Front Focal Plane with G2DMR reticle. With the extra money you can add a couple more inches to your barrel, a nice trigger, 500-600 rounds of ammo, or about half way to a better stock.

Rifle Scopes Remington 700 in 300 RUM, beginner rifle scope?

Scope is fine but I opted for more power and larger tube and went with a Bushnell Tactical Elite 6-24x50 with the FFP and G2DMR. Make sure it is mounted securely with heavy, 4 bolt per ring, rings and a one-piece mount. I would stay away from the picatinny rail submount with rings and go with...

Rifle Scopes Scope for R700 Tactical, $2500 budget

Unless your have big plans for the scope in the future, as in swapping out all but the action under it, there are a number of scopes in the $1k range that will give you more than adequate service.

Barrel fluting - what is it good for?

^^^^^^^^^^*^ Remember when I mentioned those process PHDs how they always made us commoners look like idiots? Well done, Wade. Maybe you can comment on whether a fluted barrel has a spine and if it would make sense to orient it in a specific direction? Also was wondering if the length of a...

Barrel fluting - what is it good for?

No, actually I was being somewhat of a wise ass as I don't necessarily agree with the statement above about removing metal to make it stronger, but jumped to the challenge. :-) Fatigue has to do with flex, stress, compression, expansion, etc which are components of ultimate strength in my...

Barrel fluting - what is it good for?

The simplest example is to drill a hole in the end of a running crack. The hole distributes the forces around the circumference and will help keep the crack from running. So there you go, taking away made it stronger. Another example is if you leave a square block where there should be a...

Rifle Scopes Interesting observation with my SS 10x42M

The only thing I could think of that would do that, setting mirage aside which is sort of the same refraction issue, is an improperly ground glass, or a glass with a curve that doesn't cooperate with your eye, glasses or contacts. I don't know much about optics, but different wavelength light...

Rifle Scopes Average MOA angle for rail/base for .300 Win mag @ 1,000 yards?

Just took another look at the data. What powder you going to use? I tried 240gr, thought about 230s but they weren't available. The 240s just about sent me to the hospital at 2,600fps without a brake.

Rifle Scopes Average MOA angle for rail/base for .300 Win mag @ 1,000 yards?

No problem zeroing at 100yds with a 20moa base on my .300 using a Bushnell Tactical Elite 6-24x50 G2DMR.

    R700 trigger ID help

Not to drag this out, as I can go on about ice cream with the best of them, the new 40x has a hole in side so you can see the sear engagement, or lack there of, as was in my case.

Barrel fluting - what is it good for?

Fulton's conclusion is inline with the statements above: "Conclusion: the fluted barrel is significantly more rigid, and has much more surface area than a solid barrel of the same weight." (<-note the same weight). Also, the leading paragraph where they enumerate the disadvantages of a fluted...
