Hunting & Fishing Annual "Hunting Based" steel shootout

Whenever I'm hunting out west there tends to be lots of huffing and puffing... Always seems like you're hiking up, never down! Any stage that has some ups and is timed would make it very realistic!

Hunting & Fishing Annual "Hunting Based" steel shootout

Looks like fun! Couple of ideas from the Alleghany Sniper Challenge here on the east coast. -100 yard zero. Set up rifle (not loaded), walk to target. Do jumping jacks, push ups, etc.. then sprint the 100 yards to rifle and engage for 5 shots. Maybe have them hike up a steep hill and then...

Hunting & Fishing Whats your hunting bow setup?

The sling doesn't really come into play when shooting at targets on flat ground. But when you're in a treestand and shooting down at the 45 degree angle, that sling could save your bow from a long drop down...

Hunting & Fishing Whats your hunting bow setup?

I was taught the same about three years ago, and was sold a sling on my bow.

Hunting & Fishing Whats your hunting bow setup?

Also fairly new to bow bunting, and loving it! Picked up an Xpedition Xterra about three years ago. Nothing fancy, and not new anymore, but it works and I've shot some deer. It's got a tru glow 5 pin sight, which I like a lot. Actually wish I had more pins to offer more flexibility in range.

    LOL. Rolling coal?

Seeing protesters getting blanketed in black smoke never fails to get a chuckle out me.

    Site Archive? IS there one?

Also curious how to use the search function? There are probably lot's of topics that have been covered, that would be easier to read up on, instead of starting new threads. Thanks!

    Larue PredatOBR 260?

Anyone have experience with this rifle? Any feedback would be appreciated. Any other 260 semi-auto platforms that folks would recommend?

Anyone else pick up a 5R Recently

I would put money into a nice optic before upgrading the rifle. Hopefully it's a good shooter and you won't need to fiddle with it.

Hunting & Fishing Tried my hand at a European Mount

Here are some more pictures, taken outside in natural light. Left is the one buried for a year in the ground. Center is one I boiled. Right is one I brought to the taxidermist and is bleached.

Hunting & Fishing Tried my hand at a European Mount

I also love the natural patina look. Looks great in the picture, but it doens't look as good in person. Very dark on top, and it looks...well like a dirt stain. I was going to touch up those areas with the dye using a sponge to blot it and try to keep it natural. If I screw it up, I'll just...

Let's talk 260 Remington dies sets!

You should be good to go to 1000 and beyond with .6 groups on your 260. I use RCBS 260 dies, and hit 2moa sized targets beyond 1200 yards.

Forget H4350…. Can’t even find the substitutes!

Yes, I've talked to guys who prefer varget in their 260. I haven't tried it yet, curious what else folks have to say.

Hunting & Fishing Early morning high winds pest control

Ha! Too funny!! A true gun guy knows there are only two methods to treat bed bugs. Hoppes #9, which works on everything, or sprinkling some Varget powder on them with a match.

    Cz or 10/22

I have both a CZ and 10/22. CZ is more accuate, but the 10/22 is plenty accurate. We're talking about quarter sized groups vs dime sized groups. 10/22 is easier to customize and modify, so many aftermarket parts are out there. Really depends on what you're using it for?
