    Re: .22 mag vs. .17hmr I shoot prairie dogs with a 17hmr out to 200 yards. After watching the furry little bastards get hit and crawl away using the other ammo, I exclusively use Hornady V-max. Like Catronor said a 50-75 yard shot will be easy.

    Re: Savage17 hmr I have the 93717 as well. I have shot the 17 grain CCI TNT, Remington Acutip, Federal V-shock and the Hornady V-max. I no longer shoot anything but Hornady V-max. My rifle shoots all of them well but the V-max is Devastating.

    Re: Zero distance for .22 LR The one I use to shoot prairie dogs I have zeroed at 100 yards. The one I use to shoot armadillos in my yard I have zeroed at 25 yards. Once I eradicate all the dillos, I will back it out to 100.
