Rem 700 sps tact. vs. sps AAC-SD?

1 in 10 twist will stabilize a heavier bullet. I think it will stabilize around 200gr reliably. Get the AAC if you want to stabilize these heavier projectiles or if you want a threaded barrel. Get the tact if you don't.

I just don't care much of the Kryptek looks. How durable would you say it is?

Newbie looking for adivce for rifle purchase

6.5 creedmoore and 6.5 grendal are two different beasts. I would stick with the Creedmoore if you want a 6.5. I think for a beginner, the .308 or the .223 is hard to beat. Trigger time is what you need and .308 and .223 are cheap and plentiful.

My first bolt gun - Help

Remember, a compromise rifle will not do anything as well as a purpose built rifle. A .300wm both heavier because of the longer action, more expensive to shoot, and has a shorter life. This is in addition to the .300wm being less friendly to the shooter. I buy all my firearms for a specific...

    Help choosing a Remington 700

The stocks that are listed are not Hogue stocks, just have Hogue grips built in. They're still the typical Remington stocks, JUNK. The stocks flex too much for very precise shots. The VTR stock feels alright for an injection molded stock, but that isn't saying much. It works well for a...

Newbie looking for adivce for rifle purchase

Geneva, long range shooting isn't something that is very complicated. It just seems that way on the surface. Gun-smithing is quite different than just assembling pieces of a system. Most people mate the base (or bases) to the action themselves because it is not that hard. Then you add the rings...

    Looking at a Remington

Just remember, on the big end, you can (usually) get more out of a $1500 scope and a $500 rifle than you can a $1500 rifle and a $500 scope. I am saving up for my first "long range" precision firearm, I am only looking at high end scopes. I'll probably have $2k+ in a scope setting on $1000...

    Looking at a Remington

It seems all too common that people want to punch a grand. The only problem is, what do you want to do out there? The suggestions probably would be different if you want to hit a moose or if you want to try your hand at varmints. The saying stands, you can't hit what you can't see. If you...

Help Me Build-Up My 700 SPS Tactical

The Hide thinks that we don't have enough information to go on. Sub MOA can be a pretty big range. Just remember, sub MOA should be sub 10"@1000yds. That is pretty good. Without any numbers, sub MOA can 3/4moa, 1/2moa, 1/8moa, 1/16moa. You may have a world class Remington factory rifle. Now...

Sidearms & Scatterguns New well kinda Remington R51

Everybody else did too. I am not saying it wouldn't be exactly what you were wanting. I was just pointing out that the size, on paper, doesn't seem that impressive. Pick one up at the local gun store and see how small it feels. I don't think I will be getting one.

Sidearms & Scatterguns looking for a dedicated range gun for the wife.

I would always suggest the M&P. I think it just points better. It feels better during firing. The only problem is the trigger, but I have heard that the problems have been reduced in the later model M&Ps.

Is this a good buy for the price???

I think it just really depends on what you would consider a 1000 yard gun. If all you want to do is to be able to a 24"x24" then many firearms would fit that bill. My suggestion? Find a good used 700 without the x trigger. Don't worry about the barrel. I would get something in 7mm, 243, 308...

Is this a good buy for the price???

The 100 rounds of special break in rounds were probably lapping bullets. I would probably let this one go. Krieger barrels are already hand lapped if I am not mistaken. The special rounds didn't do you any good, probably hurt the barrel slightly. They have lapping compound on them. Even if you...

Sidearms & Scatterguns New ammo on the market 50-60$ for 10 rounds

Yea, it does hit 9 times with one shot if your aim is true. In "normal" self defense range (7 yard?) the shot only spreads about an inch a yard. So if your aim was slightly off right arm, you missed all vital organs. With the extreme spread of this projectile, it seems it would reach its full...

Sidearms & Scatterguns New ammo on the market 50-60$ for 10 rounds

Shotgun ammo with a finite and easily controlled spread? You honestly don't see any value to that? When you are shooting someone, you want ALL shot on target. If your target is 16 yards away then you'll probably group around 16 inches, bigger than most people. Your group can be large enough...

Sidearms & Scatterguns New ammo on the market 50-60$ for 10 rounds

I think that is the problem. The video didn't include anyone hitting the target even remotely close to center. At that distance, especially with a long gun, you should be able to close your eyes and still hit black. I think the shot pulls itself one way or the other during the initial spread...
