If you drilled some ~1/2" holes near the bottom of the legs, then you could anchor the legs down with some tent pegs/really long nails (have seen them at HD/Lowe's...) so even if the sawhorse took a shot it couldn't move too easily...
If so, how could you tell that this particular UTG scope shit the bed b/c of funky spring-piston recoil vs. any of the other reasons for something from UTG going bad?
Regardless of what chrono you wind up with, do NOT use it to try getting a muzzle velocity on a potato gun--it won't end well... Yes, to answer the question I know you're thinking, I'm speaking from personal experience on that matter... :p
Interesting--mag range and price are right about what I'm looking for but I'd prefer (would like, but isn't a deal-breaker) a reticle like the Horus'es/EBR-2B that has some sort of markings so that I'm not holding off in space for windage/elevation.
I saw that scope listed on Liberty Optics'...
I've got a .338LM on order from a member here and now I get to think/plan optics that'll let me work that rifle out at distance since a 2,500 yard range just opened that has me drooling in anticipation... At this point, I'm trying hard to find a reason NOT to buy a Vortex Razor HD with the...
Aervoe rattlecan paint with a bit of old camo netting for a mask--it's not a fancy-schmancy "look nice in pictures on the internet" camo job but it prob cost me $3 in paint, only took an hour to do (prep time included), and can be easily touched up when the finish gets worn...
I've been having a hard time resisting buying a Stoeger ATACS to deal with the squirrel problem around Casa JV. An integrally-suppressed, subsonic (with lead pellets), .22 air rifle ought to be big medicine on tree rats out to 50m. or so...
While flipping through the latest Sinclair catalog I saw that RCBS has come out with the Rockchucker Supreme that's supposed to be for new/longer cartridges. When I buy a .338 Lapua, should I be good with the Rockchucker I bought back in '99 or will I have to buy an updated press to reload for...
Who cares? Even if the Chinese knockoffs would hold up to serious use, there's no way I'm going to support intellectual property thieves when it's time for my next bipod...
Check out SWFA's Sample List and grab one of their 3-9's. It has neither side parallax nor illumination, but it's a solid optic, FFP, mil/mil, and should be right around your $500 budget (w/o rings or a base).
Has anyone here experimented with installing flush cup QD sockets in the side of a boltgun stock just forward of the recoil lug and if so, how did it work out for you? I've been thinking about putting a pair of those sockets into my rifle's stock (H-S Precision on a 700P) there since (1) it...
Re: PICS of Folding Stock Options
McRee chassis--the gun started as a Remington 700 AAC-SD then got chopped to 17.5" and a MB762SSAL/RE brake added. With the stock folded, the rifle is a hair under 29" OAL
Re: Custom cami paint for custom build ...
Total cost: ~$3 worth of paint
Total time: 1 hour, including time to degrease/mask off the non-painted bits
FWIW,I used Aervoe rattlecan paint and a bit of old camo netting for a mask, moving it around in between colors.
