    I always heard it was in case some jerk had a measuring technique that made your 16” short by 1/8” and suddenly you’re getting accused of possessing an unregistered SBR. Or maybe it’s that we’ve all dreamed of having an extra half inch and this is how we fulfill that dream.

    Thousand opinions out there. I’ve got an 18” 6.5 CM with a TBAC ultra 9 that I like. You can load 140 class ammo to 2550-2650 fps pretty easily and that should be deadly to 500 without issue. I also loaded some 123s for my son to shoot to 200 yards max. .308 should also do well in 150-165...

    Little guy smacked his first deer at 0720 today in youth season. Great way to start a hunting career. He was more confident than I was. Shot was a little back, but clipped the liver. Deer was down 70 yards from the shot.

    Couple of arkansas does with an R26 crossbow. Shot one at 25 yards, she went down after running 20 yards. 90 seconds later I saw another. Walked across the open spot in the woods and almost exactly to the same spot as the first. Put her down, too.

    6.5 and 308 bullet selection

    I like the simple Sierra 165 game king for .308. Love the Hornady sst line in 6.5- tough bullets. I went down to 123s for my son for his first year. Made for the 6.5 Grendel, but seem to shoot fine out of our 18” Creedmoor.

    223 is a great round suppressed. 6.5 will be as well. Ultra 7 is solid. Beware that you didn’t hear the “boom” but you certainly heard the supersonic crack. For that reason you still want ear pro.
