Stainless steel tumbling - still dirty primer pockets

I use a Thumler's Tumbler - http://www.sinclairintl.com/reloading-equipment/case-cleaning/case-tumblers/thumler-s-model-b-rotary-tumbler-stainless-steel-media-prod42994.aspx with small pins. I usually tumble 100 cases (6XC) at a time. The magic cleaning solution that I use is 1. 1 liter...

What brass usually has the smallest amount of weight different between cases?

I recently weighed 50 Norma 6XC cases with my analytical balance. I first weighed them dry and recorded the weights to .01 grains. I then water weighed them using the 21st Century primer pocket plugs. Primer Pocket Plugs What I found was that there was very little correlation between the...

    On the edge of insanity!!

I usually don't have to rechamfer if the case doesn't need trimming. If I do have to trim I rechamfer with the tool but it usually doesn't need it unless I have to trim a lot off. It' a great tool. Controls chamfer depth and thereby controls the neck bearing surface length.

    On the edge of insanity!!

I just wash my cases with warm soapy water and brush the inside of the necks with a nylon brush to remove the One Shot Lube.

    Digital scale...

Switched from my Chargemaster to this (Omega II trickler and Sartorius balance) and cut my SD and ES in half. Not cheap but worth every penny in many different ways. Benchrest ammo reloading with Entris64-1S & Omega Powder Trickler - YouTube

    On the edge of insanity!!

I've been fighting this battle of high SD and SD for the past 4 months and this is what finally got me into the low single digit SD and ES. I just followed the bench rest guys lead. If this looks familiar I posted this on another thread. Equipment - Gun - T2K chambered in 6XC - Norma brass -...

    Grain weight accuracy

I use my Chargemaster to trickle up to one grain under my final weight and then use my Sartorius analytical balance and Omega II power trickler to trickle up to my final weight to one kernel. Scale measures to .001 grain. Benchrest ammo reloading with Entris64-1S & Omega Powder Trickler - YouTube

    Measuring Bullet Bearing Surface Problems

I shoot both DTAC 115 and Lapua 105 Scenar-L in 6mm. With the DTACs I have to sort by weight to .1 grain and bearing surface. I use the Sinclair comparator. I tried some of the Scenar-L and the bullet to bullet as well as the lot to lot consistency was so incredible that my comparator is just...

    "high" standard deviation... why?

I get plenty of trigger time. I'm an RSO and instructor at an upscale pistol and rifle range. We even have an indoor 100 yd rifle range which I can use in the winter. Get to shoot both pistol and rifle 6-7 days a week :-)

    "high" standard deviation... why?

I have to store the "cream of tarter" on my reloading bench so the wife won't try it. Neither of us had ever heard of it before. It makes a huge difference on the cases. Really cleans them up and makes them shine. I would hate to see what it would do on my stomach. As for reloading time, having...

    "high" standard deviation... why?

I've changed a couple of things from my last post. When I tumble my brass in my Thumler's tumbler with stainless steel media I now use 1 liter of softened H2O, 1 tsp of LemiShine, and now 1 tsp of cream of tarter. The cream of tarter really makes the brass shine like it is new. Makes a real...

Disappointed with RCBS, need a new powder measure

I went from a Chargemaster to a Sartorius analytical balance and cut my SD and ES IN HALF. For critical work lose the Chargemaster quick. Lab analytical balance Sartorius Entris64-1S Check out this video of the Sartorius and an Omega II trickler. This is the way to go. Works great for me...

New To reloading - .223/.308 Match Grade Reloading Setup Help

Just posted the following on another thread regarding achieving single digit ES and SD. Maybe it will be of use to you. Worked for me :-) Equipment Gun - T2K chambered in 6XC - Krieger 27 inch barrel 1:7.5 twist Brass - Norma Bullets - Lapua Scenar L 105gr and DTAC 115gr BN...

    "high" standard deviation... why?

You haven't mentioned at what distances you will be shooting at or what kind of precision specs. you are striving for. If you are shooting most shorter distances (100-300) then maybe an SD of 19 will be perfectly acceptable. However - if you are looking to shoot out to 1K yds and beyond then...

How much variance in case weight is too much?

Most of the high power shooters that I have bumped into on other forums will sort fully prepped, same headstamp, matched brass into groups of +/- 1.0 grain.

Miltitary stock adjustable for cast and cant ?

Re: Miltitary stock adjustable for cast and cant ? Actually cast and cant adjustment is different from LOP and angle. Here is an article that might explain it better. http://www.6mmbr.com/gunweek016.html
