    New 6mm Advanced Rifle Cartridge

@Bantam1: I imagine that 18" is a good compromise between velocity and weight + handling. While I don't think one size fits all, 18" seems like a good all-around solution. I didn't want a 24" barrel but I wanted to make sure mine would perform at 1000 yards and as I have a lathe and built my...

    New 6mm Advanced Rifle Cartridge

I tested CCI 400 primers today VS the CCI BR4s I've been using and @ormandj and @Constructor were right! The primers worked fine and there was no real change in velocity. The CCI 400s were a little flatter but not pierced or even close. No hang fires or any other unexpected behavior. The MV...

    New 6mm Advanced Rifle Cartridge

In an attempt to conserve my best primers, I am going to rework my best 6mm ARC and CFE223 load with CCI 400 primers. Has anyone had a problem with that? Does CFE223 perform significantly better with BR4s or 450s? Thank you, Henryrifle

    New 6mm Advanced Rifle Cartridge

Inspired by @coldboremiracle, I loaded up 50 of my most consistent load, 28.3 grains of CFE223 under the 108 ELD-M and headed to the 1000 yard range. At 100 yards this consistently groups in the .7 to .8 MOA range at 2590 FPS. I am not at all happy with this group size but I know it is...

    New 6mm Advanced Rifle Cartridge

Agree with jbailey--great video. My barrel is 1.75" longer than yours but Quickload says 28 grs. of BLC2 under the 105 BTHP would give me 2685 FPS. If your barrel is faster than mine then you are right on with your speed estimate. Thank you again for the info and the great vid! Henryrifle

    New 6mm Advanced Rifle Cartridge

coldboremiracle: That is a great looking build. I have to know more about the barrel like manufacturer, twist and length. Also very interested in the details of the ammo you are using. And, GREAT SHOOTING!!! Henryrifle

    New 6mm Advanced Rifle Cartridge

I attached it here. I print this out of PowerPoint. Let me know if this works or not. The red 1" arrow at top print out exactly 1" for me from powerpoint. The grid is a little off even though the ruler says it is 1" in PowerPoint. I am unable to attache the PowerPoint slide. Please let me...

    Looking for something different

You've got the 6mm and 6.5mm cartridges covered as well as one of the best .224s. Seems like you are on the right path with an M1A. They are offered in 6.5 Creedmoor which would give you a new rifle and operating system without making you pick up reloading dies, other preparation tools and...

    New 6mm Advanced Rifle Cartridge

I agree with you, SupressYourself. That matches my experience too, however, I would not imagine that Hornady would load either over the SAAMI spec pressure, and, as such, I would expect both to be loaded to the most accurate "hottest" load they were able to produce.

    New 6mm Advanced Rifle Cartridge

I get very similar results to yours with that ammo out of my 21.75" barrel. 2700 FPS and 1.1 to 1.5 MOA at 100 yards. SD was between 17 and 21. Henryrifle

    New 6mm Advanced Rifle Cartridge

Spent some time at the range today and based on results from Friday, I thought I had a good idea of a good load. I was looking forward to posting up some pics of target pages filled with .4s and .5s. It didn't turn out that way. From all the data I have collected, 28.1 to 28.3 grains of CFE...

    New 6mm Advanced Rifle Cartridge

You are pretty modest. That is a very nice build. Not trying to drift off topic but do you have any concerns about the gas block hitting the hand guard when loading the bipod? I was sure this was part of an accuracy problem with a previous build and actually hacksawed off about 3" of hand...

    New 6mm Advanced Rifle Cartridge

That is looking good, tomcatfan! You're barrel will likely pick up more speed as you get more rounds through it. I have not been able to get my hands on 108 ELD-M factory ammo but your velocity is awesome! I'll go look but if you haven't posted earlier in this thread can you tell us something...

Best bang for your buck 6.5 creedmoor barrel for ar10?

I have 3 Ballistic Advantage barrels. The 6.5 Creedmoor AR-10 barrel shoots in the .5s with hand loads just as others above have experienced. Very happy with this barrel. I was so happy with it that I bought other expecting similar results. The other two barrels, both AR-15 barrels, in 6.5...

    New 6mm Advanced Rifle Cartridge

Alright. I am getting a little happier. Shot some tests today with Varget and CFE223, results above. Need to test a few increments more with Varget as it looks like the group was just starting to tighten. CFE223 did okay today too. I need to test both a little less powder and a little more...

    New 6mm Advanced Rifle Cartridge

I understand expectation vs. happiness plot but suspect you are only tricking yourself for short periods of time :) That group looks like a .5 MOA group assuming 100 yards? I was not counting the one hole out of the group to the right. Thanks for the reply! henryrifle

    New 6mm Advanced Rifle Cartridge

Have been reading @Ledzep and other's posts on this thread. Just put together my own 6mm ARC AR-15 and am beginning load development. Nice looking group you shot up there. Was that 100 yards with an AR or a bolt gun? My goal is to find a 1/2 MOA or better load that feeds out of the magazine...

Sako TRG 22 or Tikka T3X TAC A1

I am sure that if I owned a TRG I would be similarly passionate about how great it is. Have never read a review that said otherwise about the TRG rifles. As it is I am a Tikka T3X TAC A1 owner. Actually, I own two. I haven’t owned a ton but I have owned several decent target rifles and the...
