Enfield #4T bracket pads I don't need for you builders.

MJ - do you know if these are built to the dimensions of the original unfitted pads used by H&H or are they sized to previously fitted pads? Reason I ask is that if built to the dimensions of previously used pads, they may need shimming as the originals were individually fitted to each rifle...

    Finnish M39-SOV Project BUILD FINISHED

Thanks Joop Paul checked his records and his original test groups with irons were with a .303 bullet. I'll take both along at the weekend. On the shim, we have already put a shim at the front of the mount to align the scope with the bore. Maybe we now need to place an additional shim the...

    Finnish M39-SOV Project BUILD FINISHED

Kortik, thanks or the input, yes we will get it out again this next weekend and shoot without the scope, see if we can't get it back to where it was as posted before. Paul used a new machinist on this project...maybe he is not quite as good as Bob, his old one. Good news is Bob has now...

    Finnish M39-SOV Project BUILD FINISHED

Joop - thanks! Yes, I notice that on the scope, easily fixed. But ran into some other problems on first run out.... We need to look at the alignment of the scope to the bore. We ran out of adjustment and , even with the elevation topped out at the top of the scope I was still having to...

    Finnish M39-SOV Project BUILD FINISHED

Firstly,.....I've got to start with an apology....it's been a while since I updated this thread. Two main reasons, Paul's workload and his machinist falling ill meant the final parts of the project took a while. In addition, normal life took over and I simply haven't been around too much to...

Anyone looking to build a K98?

Frank - no worries! Did you get in touch with Mr Huddle on the leather repros?

Anyone looking to build a K98?

That's the current Mauser production M98 "Meisterklasse"...if you're going that custom hunting rifle route, may as well go the whole hog and go to Holland and Holland. they's happily knock you up something to your exact needs on an old 98 action: Holland and Holland Bolt Action Magazine Rifle...

Anyone looking to build a K98?

Scott....mate, don't give up on the dream! Good, original, unmolested and shootable K98k's (nonRC) seem to be getting really hard to find...and I guess will only get harder stiil in future. I reckon you'd pretty soon kick yourself if you let it go. As my local gunshop owner says...."German...

refinished my Norinko. What do you think

I recognise and admire the skills required to do this and, such as it is, I think you've done a good job. But, a high gloss finish on a military rifle? Sorry to say it's not for me. FWIW I'd say strip it back and try to do something more in keeping with the original, a more...

Couple of issues with my Mauser K98

100% correct....I "ASS-U-ME"d (maybe incorrectly) that the OP was describing additional work that the guy had done that made this a problem, not the original design feature/benefit?

    enfield no 4 mk I T

Is the Sarco repro the same as the Gunparts (Numrich?) one? If so, have a look at my smith's site (www.thamesvalleyguns.co.uk) as he has been using this on his repro No4T's and has a decent write up on his impressions. Look in the "Armourer's Notes" on the left side of the home page and click...

Ready to order AI AE MKIII 308

Dacam - nice rifle. Congrats! Maybe a little late to this party... I hear what you are saying... but $400 is pretty big money just to cover cleaning if you don't need the other benefits of a folder. A cheaper fix is to buy a longer cleaning rod with a slimmer handle...... This...

Couple of issues with my Mauser K98

Maybe just the angle of the pic, but the mounts look very low compared to a vintage 98k "precision rifle". Added to that, it looks like you have a raised comb on the stock so, with taller mounts, I'd think you'll still be ahead of the "chin weld" you normally associate with an original 98k...

What is this? Not a sniper rifle but it's old........

Just an observation..."Russian Lewis guns". As far as I know the only Lewis guns purchased by the Russians towards the end of WW1 were British (BSA) made guns delivered in mid 1917. They ordered a further batch of 10,000 US (Savage) made guns of which just over half are recorded as delivered...

What is this? Not a sniper rifle but it's old........

Not a Lewis...unless the Russian started making the drum mags! ;) My money says it is what is left of a DP27...but maybe a replacement butt and missing the bipod and flash hider. Could do with a bloody good clean and some TLC!!

    No. 4 mk1 (T) questions

mrbungle - congrats! Would be good if you can post pics so we can see what you get for the money on your side of the pond. On the bracket, try ot get one from Roger Payne in the UK....great quality and they fit real No32's!! Not all repros are as good.......

The Accuracy International AX 308 Review Video is finally up!

Thanks TT3 A 300WM is calling me ;) Have had a couple of chats with your old mate GC - yes, he can spec the rifle with the AW style single port brake so I can use my existing can on both. Thanks for the thought on the spare brake. If it's the ex-UK "one careful owner" one that I know...

The Accuracy International AX 308 Review Video is finally up!

Great vid - thanks for putting in the time on it! Does anybody know if the AX tactical brake is the same as the AW? Looking at an AX but want to use my existing AI can. It's an AI...I think it should do pretty OK!! ;)
