    Tac Ops Rifles

When Mike re-did my Lima51 for DBM, he had Birdsong do the AFAR in green ... it's purty for sure. And they are 10-32 screws for the AFAR nuts

Think they're 10-32 but I will measure today. I tend to get the low head screws long (like 3/4") and cut them to needed length.

I have used the BT15 and BT17 rails with the AFAR nuts you can buy for $10. I also use stainless low head socket cap screws from McMaster Carr if I need longer ones.

The 3.5" in the 5.5" bay looks like a 120mb Superdisk. Very handy at the time (mid 90s)

    FALs

I built an Imbel parts kit on a Century receiver about 15 years ago. Shoots IPSC silhouettes out to 500 with my M80-ish handloads (Hornady 150FMJBT & 43gr 4895 in LC66 brass). Reliable as others have said. I can run any decent ammo in it, completely dry or soaking wet. I have thought about...

    SECNAV Remington Model 720

Barrel is the stock, as-issued AMF barrel. I'll PM pics. Not hijacking a thread about a much finer rifle.

Best heavy replacement barrel for R700 .308

Nothing wrong with a 700P barrel. I had a 700SPS-V that I had set back 3/16" and re-chambered with an M852 reamer. Cut it down to 22" and it shot 1/2moa or under. @MikeRTacOps used to do a 700P tune up that included his 1/4moa guarantee if he bedded it in his stock. Seems those barrels do...

    The best AR trigger?

I have a Timney 3# curved shoe in my carbine. Been there over 8 years and never had a double, ND, bind or perceptible change in weight. Breaks clean and consistently.

    SECNAV Remington Model 720

I stopped shooting Navy rifle matches about the time you won that rifle. I won a couple Garands shooting Navy, Interservice and National matches and still have a Mk2-1 (7.62) Garand that Dobber and I did the full NM workup on at Interservice 91. I shot with several folks who won 720s and have...

    Triggers

Ah. There is the difference. A Geissele Super 700 for a Rem700 or clone is a different animal by far from any AR trigger. Just like a Timney AR trigger is different from their bolt gun triggers. As for AR triggers, the Geissele HiSpeed is quite adjustable and quite a nice bit of gear.

    Triggers

    Uncle's Mk13s? Commercial Geissele's are fully adjustable.

    Triggers

Could you clarify this, please? The TT single and 2-stage triggers I have had have had adjustment for pull weight(s) only. A Remington Walker trigger has adjustment for pull weight, overtravel and sear engagement. A Geissele, Jewell or Timney CE have the same adjustments as a Remington Walker...

    Triggers

Alot depends on your definition of reliability. You can define it as consistency in pull weight or as safe-to-carry or as user-adjustable. A properly-tuned Remington 700 (Walker) or 40x trigger is very consistent and safe, despite claims otherwise. You won't get it under 2lbs, but it doesn't...

Interesting barrel contour. Looks almost Heavy Palma. Is that an older Apollo with the separate lug? My plans include a similar rifle but in 260.

I doubt it, Mike. 2 of the holes are 0.025" out of alignment with the others.😂🤣😂🤣
