    I shoot the Aguila Super Extra standard velocity in my High Standard Victors and it is extremely accurate (10 shots in a dime at 50ft off a bench, not Ransom) and reliable. You can get it for 10 cents a round.

    I have an 18" Wylde chamber, 1-8" Ultramatch SPR profile in my Mk12 Mod1 clone. Apparently uses a Shilen ratchet rifled blank. It has been punching holes and ringing steel for me for about 12 years now. I load it with 23.5gr 8208 under a 75bthp in LC brass. Good for 2750fps.

    Just a reminder, Lake City was still producing generous amounts of -06 into the 70s and Frankford Arsenal stopped in 1961. The last M72 was 1967. Carlos was shooting an -06 Model 70 in Vietnam using M72.

    Back on the OP question ... as was said, not all clip slotting was done by Remington for sniper rifles. There was once a considerable commercial market for clip-slotted target rifles for shooting "across the course" back in the post-WW2 thru the 90s. AI mags and associated DBMs didn't exist...
