    Xtriii or ?

My 10 year old daughter just ran a US made 5.5-30 in a 1 day match. There were zero complaints about the knobs. Also, this is normally on my wife's gun who has also never complained. The knobs are more aggressive than normal, but this shit is way overblown.

    Carbon ring removal

I attack mine with a brush on a drill every 200-300 rounds. With 1700+ rounds on 2 Dasher barrels they both still shoot in the .2s off a bipod. I don't think it's hurting the accuracy. Maybe if it was benchrest where you are losing with groups in the .2s but I can't shoot any better than that...

    Trigger Tech in KRG Bravo

Old news. One of them (TT or KRG) fixed the problem. 3 years ago I had my TL3 in a Bravo. I had to dremel to clearance the safety. I bought another Bravo for my daughter a few months ago. She runs an Origin with a Diamond and there are zero clearance issues.

Tikka vs nucleus gen 2 actions

The old mausingfields are awesome when timed. The nucleus is not close to them when it comes to lift. They are much heavier even with a 16# spring. I have every weight spring for my nucleus. Even the 16# spring does not make the lift super light.

Tikka vs nucleus gen 2 actions

Smooth is mostly how the trigger is timed to the action, magazine tuning, and brass resizing. These things will make a night and day difference more so than one 700 clone vs another. I dont have a lot of time to elaborate on this right now, but there are plenty of guys on here that understand...

    243 ai

Looks like Hodgdon has some data for 6 Creed. Start there and work up. When the relationship between velocity and powder charge stops looking normal, or you get pressure signs, back off that and find an accurate load.

The MOST constant velocities Powder Advertisement

^^^THIS x1000 Sometimes you get something that barely changes with temp and other times it blows balls. I'm currently running 31.4 gr Varget under a 108 Bt Target Berger in Lapua brass with cci 450s. My temp variation is about 1 fps per degree. I have been running this load in matches for...

    6mm vs .22 for PRS

I agree. You are on the right track. When I shot a 243AI in matches it was a noticeably easier to see splash with 115 DTACs going 3050 fps than with 105s going 3170 fps. Also, when I noticed this, I was a brand new shooter and had no idea one should show up better than the other. There was...

    6mm vs .22 for PRS

    This is definitely true.

POLL: First Precision Rifle build - Which would you choose?

I would also recommend this as a budget build. My 10 yr old daughter is running this exact setup in matches. I have had a shitload of Criterion savage prefits (10-15 lost count) and I still run them as practice barrels in 223 wylde with the barrel nut red loctited to hold headspace when...

    ARC Nucleus vs. Bighorn Origin

I have both. If you like a light bolt lift, go TL3 and send it off to Zermatt to time the trigger. The TL3 binds if you run it just right. Most have no issues with it. They both have light strike issues. A heavier spring in both will basically fix it. It makes the lift pretty heavy in the...

Question for switch barrel rifle users

I agree, switch barrel rifles are for poors, but "I are one." I plan on the need to work until I'm dead, but I don’t want to starve to death in the meantime.

Question for switch barrel rifle users

We swap barrels on actions with a Ross vice all the time. With good notes the zero is usually within .1 mils. The worst I have seen is .3 mils. We always check zero at 100 yards before doing anything serious with the rifle after swapping the barrel. The easiest scope system to use is the...

    Budget Friendly Pre-fit barrel Options??

Consider buying a good button rifled blank and having a smith chamber it. I have run a bunch of NSS Criterions. They are good. All were 1/2 moa capable with a little work. Had a few that would shoot less than that after load development and 2 that were sub 1/4 moa. I don't believe they...

Hunting & Fishing 103 ELD-X on coyotes, deer

I run 105 bthp on coyotes out of a 243AI around 3150. The amaxes were good though. The bthp tend to result in a little less fur damage. They still blow big holes quite a bit, but not like the amaxes did. Coyotes are just as dead.

Ruger Predator vs Hunter vs Savage 110 Tactical

I have a shitload of Savages from years back. With some work they can be plenty capable. They are accurate out of the box, but they have a plethora of potential reliability issues. I have moved on to custom actions, but of the choices I would pick the savage. If you can find a Howa or a...

    Suggestions please

My kids are young, 6 and 10, and they both harvested deer this year with a Ruger American in 350 Lengend. With a brake the recoil is minimal and we use electronic muffs while hunting. I didn't want to reload, so we ended up using some Winchester 180 grain power point ammo. It was the only...

    Carbon ring removal

Since this discussion has come up I will add my experience for anyone who is interested. I have used JB Borepaste and had good results. I used it every 200 rounds in a couple of 243 Ackley barrels and both made it to 2500+ rounds before going over 3/4 moa. I have recently been using iosso...

    Bergara vs custom

If you have the funds for a budget custom, that is the route I would recommend. You're going to end up with a better barrel and trigger in the first go around vs. upgrading the hmr ro get there.
