    Hunting & Fishing Moon Charts/Activity Maps/Hocus Pocus

Hey guys, I'm interested in finding out if any white-tail hunters here use moon phase carts or deer activity maps? I have recently been introduced to this by my step-dad, who kills the biggest bucks around here. I have been looking at a combination of using field and stream deer activity chart...

All around non-custom, base rifle - recommendations

I bought a HOWA 1500 varmint 20" in .308. OTB amazing rifle, in your price range, and will kill deer/pigs/whatever else just fine. Take it to the range out to 500 yards since that's all they go around here and shot it out to 700 yards at my families place on 8"x11" steel, hits every time. I...

    "Budget Rifle"

I looked at this rifle for the same purpose and ended up with a 20" HOWA 1500 varminter in .308 with the fluted barrel. I haven't dropped it in a stock yet but at about $600 it shoots the lights out. Had it out to 600 yrds on a 6"x8" steel plate and it rang every time. Looks like a good set-up...

Hunting & Fishing problems with the coyotes

The decoy I have used is the tink's miss November and leave it laying over or kneeling in a vulnerable position. This strategy came from "Scoop" and I believe he has a post showing his set-up of the decoy and a couple of downed doggies.

Hunting & Fishing Weekend Pig Hunt

Can't believe it went through that hogs adimantium infused shoulder! but seriously, the 5.56 has been my main bacon maker for a while now, and I've never had an issue with it. Good shooting and may you get many, many, many more.

Hunting & Fishing problems with the coyotes

You have to be careful with the howls sometimes. In my limited experience, howls can be misconstrued. You may think your "locating", but the yote may think it's a challenge. I normally start off with a rabbit distress or bird distress before any howling. Also, here in the south east it seems the...

    Hunting & Fishing opening day

Hate it for you, I'm in low country SC and our season kicks off August 15. Opening day here is usually a joke, 90 something degrees and mosquito ridden. I actually wait until the first of October to start hunting. Good luck up there today!

Hunting & Fishing Hogs gone dark: Hog lures/techniques

I have spoken to DNR directly about a permit or some special permission, and I live in a small town near Aiken, but they shot it down. We have a farm with small crops all year for personal use and cattle, but the hunting property is a good distance from that and primarily a timber area we plant...

Hunting & Fishing All around Hunting Caliber Choice 300 win mag, wsm, rum wby, 7 wsm,

.308win? you're only 100 or so fps off of a 30-06, and at range that isn't a game changer. You can take it to the range and shoot as far as you want, makes good, clean kills with the proper ammo (barnes tsx imo) and can take basically any game in NA within reasonable range. Just setting up a...

Hunting & Fishing Hogs gone dark: Hog lures/techniques

Hunting & Fishing Hogs gone dark: Hog lures/techniques

I live in SC and our primary hunting property is being decimated by the unwelcome hog population. Last year I moved back home and really hit them hard in August just when our deer season starts off. Between me and 2 cousins we downed 24 hogs from August to December just deer hunting. As of late...

Hunting & Fishing Bow advice anyone?

Re: Bow advice anyone? As a competiton bow shooter i'm somewhat bias towards matthews, that being said, I still shoot a conquest 3 from 2001 lols. The best advise would be to get with a well rounded shooter and learn from them. As far as draw length you will need a good bow shop to fit you...

Sidearms & Scatterguns first handgun suggestions

Re: first handgun suggestions 22lr is fun to plink with but the ammo not the guns is the problem. Its not the most reliable loading by any stretch of the imagination. I would suggest saving up an extra $50 to get a Glock 17/19 in 9mm. That covers plinking, low cost ammo, accurate, reliable...

Sidearms & Scatterguns IWB holster for G19

Re: IWB holster for G19 All of these previously stated holdsters I've heard good reviews about but IMO and for the money Uncle Mikes makes a simple lined soft material IWB holster. Size 15 hold the 19,23,36, etc. sized glocks with good hold and very confy in a strong side @ 4-5 o'clock. Cost...
