Gunsmithing Pacific Tool & Gauge SUCKS!!!

I have also had several negative experiences with them in the last couple of years. Most recently I had a reamer show up that I never ordered. When I tried to return it they just kept refusing to return my calls and emails! I used to give them consistent business, now I’m done. there are plenty...

    Gunsmithing Stuck bolt

Cleaning between bullet types has absolutely nothing to do with it. sticky bolt lift is a huge red flag that indicates excessive chamber pressure. 1. I would stop using that ammo immediately. 2. have a gunsmith take a look at the rifle or call a Savage if it is a factory barrel. If it is a...

    Gunsmithing Walnut stock blanks?

I asked the same question when I was shopping for a stock blank. The answer I received from the company selling the blanks was that many times in the blanks will crack when tryingI asked the same question when I was shopping for a stock blank. Gunsmithing Trued action

I have a trued Rem 700 and the action operates very smoothly in rapid fire strings because there is enough slop in it also. Some of the guys I shoot with have found some of the custom Rem 700 clone actions to be more challenging to use in rapid fire strings. Presumably due to tighter tolerances...

    PRS Talk MDT ACC Chassis

I have used bare V-blocks and V-blocks with glass bedding included. I did not notice a difference in performance (precision or zero shift) between the two. My point is that not all chassis need bedding to perform well. -TH

    PRS Talk MDT ACC Chassis

I have shot rifles (and so have my teammates) that were competitive at the international level for Palma matches. Chassis,V-blocks, and barrel clamp mounts. All successful at the highest levels of international competition out to 1,000yds. I respectfully disagree, and submit that Bedding is NOT...

PRS Talk Safety on the trigger a requirement?

the difference between an auto-loading rifle and a bolt-action rifle with regard to adequate protection to move with a round in the chamber is that the gas-gun DOES have a round in the chamber and a mechanical safety is used whereas the bolt-action DOES NOT have a round in the chamber and is...

Solution for "Cold weld" bullet and case neck bonding?

do electrons transfer from one material to another through physical contact? According to my college chemistry class the answer is yes. However, I think the claims of bullet/case welding together and effecting accuracy is a bunch of BS. I shoot a lot of NRA highpower and LR which are games that...

PRS Talk Safety on the trigger a requirement?

FYI, There are some cases where the stock may not allow the use of a trigger safety. Case in point, some of the Elesio chassis stocks. There are plenty of match rifles that I have owned that do not come with safeties . Barnard Model P is an example I can think of at the moment that does not come...

    PRS Talk 223 prs build

agreed. To the OP, I would like to add that if your goal is to shoot a bullet heavier than 80 gr at speeds greater than 2900 ft./s, then you should be looking at cartridges other than the 223. Those expectations are just not safe. ballistically speaking, a magazine length 223 sucks in the...

    PRS Talk MDT ACC Chassis

That sounds like a significant design flaw if you see groups shifting for opening up and someways. I have used a V block with a round action to bed rifles that I compete with. A round action bedded into AV block is consistent enough to be competitive in other disciplines (Palma and 1,000yd) at...

PRS Talk New to PRS, first scope advice needed

you are correct, I have no experience with PRS yet. Trying to get some input without Traveling to matches. Between work and kids I don’t have a lot of free time to get away. The problem with the Lupold reticle is that it is not as useful as the numbered MIL reticle designs.
