    I just wanted to throw something out, an illuminated scope functions a lot like a red dot at close range. Excellent for both eyes open shooting magnified or not. Learned this with the ACOGs years back.

    Never tried to shim a gun before, I've done regular bedding and pillar bedding before. How does shimming work? I'm gonna yank it all apart and clean the hell out of it to start, trigger isn't bad for a cheap .22
