    Gunsmithing 6.5 creedmoor build questions

Re: 6.5 creedmoor build questions My Creedmoor (28" barrel) gets to 1k with 27.5 MOA (using 142gr Matrix bullets). If I could get there with about 20 MOA and get 3k of competitive barrel life...I'll be starting a new build tommorow!

    Thoughts on Shilen Barrels?

Re: Thoughts on Shilen Barrels? Mine were sub 1/2 MOA shooters... good enough to be competitive in F-class/tactical etc. You will only get a "tight" BR style chamber if you ask for one. Cut rifling doesn't put stress in the steel the way pulling a button through does. Quality barrel makers...

    Thoughts on Shilen Barrels?

Re: Thoughts on Shilen Barrels? I've had two Shilens, one in 308 and one in 338 Lapua, both were very good. I've switched to Benchmark... also excellent with MUCH less wait time, sold!

    Gunsmithing 6.5 creedmoor build questions

Re: 6.5 creedmoor build questions Yes, here's 5 of the 120 factory ammo (not the best group, just borrowed 5 rounds from a buddy to see what they'd do)... my hand loads with the 142 Matrix are better.

    Scope for Finnish Tkiv-85 needed

Re: Scope for Finnish Tkiv-85 needed That thing is going to be AWESOME! I will be jealous and I'm pretty sure you'll have the only one in the US. I wonder if this scope would work for you... http://www.simpsonltd.com/product_info.p...431e55eecfb37b9 I have a customized M28/76 chambered in...

    Gunsmithing 6.5 creedmoor build questions

Re: 6.5 creedmoor build questions The 8.5 would probably work fine in most conditions with the 140's but, I would personally go with the 8 twist... I have one and it shoots the 120's great as well as the 140's. Never tried anything lighter so I can't say on the 95gr bullets. Is the creedmoor...

    Mosin-Nagant Sight Interest?

Re: Mosin-Nagant Sight Interest? I agree, a good scope mount (or rail) would be nice... I had a custom one made for my Nagant with 20 MOA built in. I would say that a Nagant is more accurate than a Mauser on average... mine shot arround 1 MOA at 300yds with a factory (.308" target) barrel and...

Re: SHWW Group You got it right Jeff... I was happy taking 3rd with a 308, the rifle was perfect all day (experimental two-groove benchmark barrel), the shooter had a few issues. Next time I'm going to kick muliemadman's butt

    Gunsmithing Mosin Nagant Build question

Re: Mosin Nagant Build question No sweat. The dies I got for shooting the rifle with the origional barrel(Lee)were actually were set up for .308" bullets (I think many 7.62x54R dies are that way). I just sized the brass and loaded. Mine was origionally a .308" barrel (some of the other Finn...

    Range Report altitude adjustment ????

Re: altitude adjustment ???? I live in an area where one day you may shoot at sealevel and the next you may be at 6000ft. If I know I may change elevation frequently I'll bring several drop charts for different elevations. To keep an altimiter accurate (not including GPS) you have to re-set...

    Gunsmithing Mosin Nagant Build question

Re: Mosin Nagant Build question Not sure if you're asking me... mine's 260 not 270. It's not a necked down version of the origional cartridge (although that would be a good way to go (probably what I'd do if I had to do it again). I had the bolt face filled in to work with the standard .473"...
