choosing the right 7mm variant this time around

No doubt it would have died from the first shot but it would have been a real pain in the ass if it would have been able to make deep into the dense brush were it stopped and I shot it again. The hide at the shoulders was about 3/4" thick with only a single entrance wound and very little to no...

choosing the right 7mm variant this time around

Have you ever shot one ? The large bull Schimitar Oryx I shot was close to 500 pounds the first shot was a little over 100 yards the 200 grain Accubond from a 300wm at 2860 fps broke both shoulders and blew a hole through the heart big enough to pretty much slide you hand through. It emmiediatly...

choosing the right 7mm variant this time around

Most of the magnum 7mm would do you well for the intended purpose you stated with one exception the Nilgai. Shooting Nilgai with most rounds lesser than one of the magnum 30's or bigger might be akin to attacking Mike Tyson with a rolled up newspaper. They are notorious for soaking up rifle...

22 arc brass... hornady vs Alpha

Alpha hands down unless you might be loosing a fair bit in the field. I'm sure you could get good performance from th3 hornady brass if you don't mind weight sorting, uniforming primer pockets, deburring and uniforming flash holes and possibly skimming the necks to even them up.

.380 win small rifle primers discussion and questions.

Been using small mag primers (CCI450) in 308palma brass and 6.5 CM for years in temps from below zero to above 100° and never had any issues. I had compared them to more expensive match SR primers and couldn't see any benefit so have just stuck with the CCI-450'S and yes the cups are thicker...

Question about carbine length vs mid length

They probably shoot softer and have less wear and tear as well. My only point was the carbine length gas isn't particularly we'll suited for a 16" barrel. All can be tamed and adjusted with buffer and carrier weight and adjustable gas systems but that can be mostly avoided.

    Redfield 3x9 experiment & questions

The color difference could very well be from sunlight. I have a Streamlite headlamp that I kept on my passenger side headrest in my jeep for a while that turned from anodized black to a bronze/OD green color.

    New Lube for me

When I lived in Oklahoma In the 90's we went duck hunting one Christmas morning in -5 to +5 degree weather. My semi auto 12 guage was essentially a single shot all morning till we limited out. I switched to using FP-10 after that on everything from shotguns, rifles and pistols both internally...

There is Dan Dowling on my side of the state about 15 minutes up the road and Gre-Tan rifles Greg Tannel another 30 minutes past that. Would highly recommend both.
