Hunting & Fishing north Texas aerial hog hunting

Re: north Texas aerial hog hunting For once I'll agree with VJJPunisher. Throw some CCR music in the background of the chopper video and it's epic. The minigun video of shooting caged and released pigs is just sad

Range Report Shooter Ballistics app now for iPhone

Re: Shooter Ballistics app now for iPhone You really have to watch scopes and such that advertise MOA but are really IPHY. MOA is 1.047 inches at 100 yards and IPHY is ofcourse 1 inch at 100 yards. Once you get out a ways that .047 inches of difference really starts to rear it's ugly...

    Problem with lee die?

Re: Problem with lee die? I've always found the lee decapping pins to be the most hardy of all brands. I love the neck sizing die but I too don't care too much for the sizing die. The seating die I've never had a problem with.

    PMC Brass

Re: PMC Brass I shoot some PMC 308 brass in my Ishapore Enfield....shoots fine and I have about 8 reloads on some of it. I don't however load it in my Rem 700. I'll load Lake City for some but mostly Lapua brass for precision. The old Enfield is a pretty sloppy chambering and I only neck...

    Giraud Trimmer

Re: Giraud Trimmer The Giraud Trimmer made 5.56 go from a chore to actually being fun. Then when I picked up the annealer....well life just gets better. They make quality products and their CS is great.

Thunder Valley Precision - Ohio 2012 Schedule

Re: Thunder Valley Precision - Ohio 2012 Schedule Goin'Hot is was great shooting with you today. I was the guy there with Mike. That 300 Norma Improved of yours is a beast. Thanks for the advice and help you gave me and I'll hopefully see you out there again.

    Stainless Steel Media Testimonials

Re: Stainless Steel Media Testimonials Yes, sometimes with traditional media it is hard to see signs of damaged cases that need to be culled out. Whether it be dust from walnut or just simply not getting it super clean, you can sometimes over look case head separation and split necks that...

Rifle Scopes HDMR Quality Control - UPDATE

Re: HDMR Quality Control - UPDATE I've been following this thread and I think I'm satisfied with the information and outcome of the effort you guys put in and I'm about ready to purchase an HDMR...if I can find one in stock that is.

    .308 175gr SMK loads at 2650fps Schneider 27"

Re: .308 175gr SMK loads at 2650fps Schneider 27" I've always heard that 42.5 grains of RL-15 was the go to load...however in my Rem700 I had harmonic scattering at 42.5 and when I went beyond 42.7 to 43.1 my groups tightened up nicely and I have great velocity with very little deviation...

Hunting & Fishing Georgia Senate approves silencers for hunting!

Re: Georgia Senate approves silencers for hunting! Very good news indeed. I return to Georgia a few times a year to clear some hogs off the family farms. If allowed to bring my suppressor it will certainly be more enjoyable to shoot. With city folks moving into the area...I've now just...

What SS media "shine" agent do you use?

Re: What SS media "shine" agent do you use? I use Micro-90. You can request a sample and they will send you one free of charge. HOWEVER, the stuff is extremely expensive if you have to buy it by the 5 gallon container. I use it at work to clean membrane filters. The stuff works great even...

Muzzle velocity Remington 700 SPS Tactical

Re: Muzzle velocity Remington 700 SPS Tactical Let's see....Federal uses a baseline of a 24" barrel. Then we use 50 fps per inch of barrel. You should be about 200fps slower than the baseline.

    Wind effects at 100yds?

Re: Wind effects at 100yds? With all that said...my gun is a 1/2 MOA gun...with my hand loads...I've yet to find any over priced store bought stuff that shoots less than 3/4 MOA...and most of it shoots aroun 1MOA or higher. It just doesn't like the retail stuff. I have a 26" barrel and it...

    Wind effects at 100yds?

Re: Wind effects at 100yds? For me personally...I've always found that my verticals were caused by me not loading my bipod the same every time...and then the tiny verticals were caused by me putting a pulse on the stock...I keep my thumb off as best I can and the free hand squeezing the rear...

    Wind effects at 100yds?

Re: Wind effects at 100yds? Which way were they stringing? Were they off vertically, horizontally or just all over the place? Was it cold? Did you have a heavy coat on...thus loading your bipod differently with each shot...maybe canting just a little different each shot? Do you have your...

    Lee factory crimp die

Re: Lee factory crimp die OldTex, I'm betting that the guys swearing by the FCD aren't buying high end bullets and prepping the brass in such a detailed fashion as we do. I would bet they are the types buying once fired Lake City brass...never annealing the necks...and after 5 or more...

    Question

Re: Question You also have to remember that different brands of brass have different volume capacities as well. One brand could be compressed at 45 grains while another brand fits with no compression and very little movement of the powder when you shake the round. That and we all seat to...

    muzzle velocity for .308

Re: muzzle velocity for .308 Using some 168 grain A-Max's in a 26" barrel I get 2780...my 175 SMK's are 2700. I don't load for velocity...I load for accuracy and that's just where my load sits at. I have a suppressor coming and I'll probably cut several inches off the barrel and I'll have...

    Question

Re: Question Yea...Varget does like to fill the case up...you can use a longer drop tube on your powder thrower so as to keep the powder from bunching up at the top...aka...get the fluff out of the powder and it sits lower...you can tap your finger on the side of the brass to help settle the...
