    Ar trigger?

You're neglecting a very important dimension in that comparison. The travel and reset on the Gold is telepathically short. I'm glad yours turned out well. The 2 .308 Golds I've tried were not great out of the box unlike their .223 Gold older brother.

Have you contacted JP about this? They really are experts with this stuff.

Does it do this if you manually cycled it with a full magazine? Have you tried any other magazines?

    Hunting dpms

Well DPMS does have a "Hunter" model for both their LR308 and new Gen II line. Have you looked at those? The new Gen II is supposedly pretty nice out of the box. What is your standard of accuracy out to 500 yards?

    Ar trigger?

I'm a bit surprised the Gold came out so nice. I tried a Gold on a 7.62 tOBR and it felt a little creepy. Similar to how mine on my LR-308 felt at first. I had to tweak the safety to get it right. It's weird because my .223 Gold was just about perfect out of the box and for me it wasn't...

Is that a 5.56 tOBR or 7.62 tOBR?

I think your scale needs to be calibrated, lol! Anyways, you want to lend me a scale to get more precise measurements? I'm not looking to get a scale just to prove a point. Like I've previously stated, I used the lightest components I was comfortable spending money on and that was available...

I'm about 5.7 lbs on a build similar to FRSTEVE except I'm using a 16" barrel (w/JP Cooley brake), aluminum receivers, MFT Minimalist stock, CAR buffer, M16 BCG. This is without sights or a mag and I'm using an "ultra precise" ;-) digital bathroom scale by weighing myself and then subtracting...

JP. This is just about how they instruct you to tune their gas block. I haven't run into any issue yet tuning it this way.

    Ar308 jam

Well there could be timing issues as the rounds feed from the magazine as well as inconsistencies in the ammo load. By tuning the block with that ammo you're at least eliminating as much as possible the gas issue. I usually tune my gas to the point just where it locks back on the last round...

Have you tuned the gas block for this load yet?

Look at the innards of the S3G again, it's a 2-stage but so is the SSA-E.

    Ar trigger?

Which of them "all" have you tried? And believe me or not, the S3G is a 2-stage design with a single stage feel,

Well considering the OP's current goals, he'll save about 3oz in the stock for about $40 (MFT Minimalist at Exile Machine) and another 3oz in the handguard for about $115 (AP Custom Carbine Length at Nordic). Not sure if shaving 6oz total is worth about $150 to him.

Well said. Unfortunately for me, the overwhelming support for Geissele led to a tremendous letdown when I decided to give them a try. Admittedly, the disappointment may have been a little less had I tried their Hi-Speed models and not their much over-hyped (imo) S3G model. Starting with the...

    Ar trigger?

I guess I'm a trigger gigolo because I've tried quite a few others and Geissele is not my favorite. Not dismissing your enjoyable moment but sometimes the first girl you kiss is not the best for you. Ironically, my first AR trigger is still my favorite even though I've tried many others...

This post on the M4 forum (AP Custom carbon fiber handguards) would seem to indicate the trunnion weight is included in the weight spec on the AP website. And in this thread on arfcom (how much does a typical barrel nut weigh? - AR15.Com Archive), mil-spec barrel nut weighs about 1.25oz. So the...

No idea on the trunnion weight. Guessing only a few ounces max. Considering the cost of the KMR, I'm not really lamenting that it might be lighter than the AP Custom.

Yeah on mine I have the AP w/o the top rail and only using a red dot. It's a lightweight for my wife and kids. Sounds like you're re-thinking the bipod on the gas block. That is a definitely a good idea. I can only imagine zeroing nightmares with it attached their.

Just be certain you won't need the top rail. If your 6920 has the gas block front sight, I'm assuming you're sticking with that. For the money, the AP Custom is hard to beat for materials and weight. It uses the stock barrel nut using an attachment trunnion that works really well. Let us...
