    Re: one and only one rifle for any north american game I was told .308 since you can load 110g up through 220g (if I recall correctly) plus plenty of factory loads. Seems like a 7-08 would be next in line on the smaller side and 7mm mag on the larger side. I went with a 308 Ruger Frontier...

    Re: Volquartsen T-17 Stainless steel still has steel properties, just more of one kind to resist rusting as quickly. Stainless steel can be made to be non-magnetic, especially in surgical implants, but is not inherently so.

    Re: Federal fusion or Barnes tsx .260 for deer...... I've shot 150, 168 and 180 Barnes in a 308. Never had a bullet stop in the animal in the 200-300y range. Usually leaves a finger to quarter size hole internally and no problem penetrating rib+shoulder of anything up to Elk. Groups well...

    Re: Best way to cross river with guns/game? If you get to the raft option Alpacka rafts are compact and light. http://www.alpackaraft.com/ With gear and deer you'd want at least a Llama, maybe an Explorer. I use a Yak for fishing the Salt River and retrieving ducks on large ponds if necessary.

    Re: Nordic + Volquartsen + 17hm2 ? See I'm thinking that a Volquartsen bolt assembly - https://www.volquartsen.com/products/132-17-mach2-cnc-machined-bolt-for-10-22 - and a Mach 2 barrel added to an SR22 probably makes it just as expensive as building the whole thing with V parts.

    Here’s my train of thought and could use some feedback to see which track I’m on. I have my hunting rifle (308) and a trainer for it (17hm2). I would like to add a semi-auto to the mix in either 22lr or 17hm2. I like the 17hm2 because there’s not a million choices, I find it shoots accurately...

    Re: Where do you leave your guts and scraps? Arizona can have some sparsely populated areas to hunt in terms of game and people, though overrun with hunters in season. I've seen it take three days for a coyote to find a gut pile, then come back the fourth day with family to take care of it...
