Hyper Stabilized Bullets - Jim Boatright

There appears to be a link to your coning theory on the hide at: https://www.snipershide.com/coning-theory-of-bullet-motion/ It doesn't seem to work. At least not for me. Is there any way we can get the link re-established???

Hyper Stabilized Bullets - Jim Boatright

Thanks to all for indulging me. So in my mind, this begs the question whether a faster twist (say 1:7) is always better than a slower (1:9) twist for long range with a solid round?Obviously there are variants for caliber, but as a general concept. I know Jim said it’s the bullet, but does...

    Ruger Precision Rifle Discussion

Just read an article on the SPR and it appears they built the 77 round for longer range. The author said he had shot the 77 to about 700 accurately.

I would say it seems more precise and predictable. I’m sure the lighter pull weight has something to do with it. The stock trigger felt to me like it had extremely fine sand in it; particularly when comparing it to the Timney. I am sure the other triggers out there are just as nice and better in...

Hyper Stabilized Bullets - Jim Boatright

Now for the real stupid question of the day. I realize this is probably like bringing a knife to a gun fight, but golf uses dimples to stabilize the flight of the ball. Any value in doing that in the area between 113 and 115 for stabilization?

Timney is a pretty good trigger. Have one in both my RPR's

At this point, they have all been 55 grain. both in 556 and 223 I ordered some 5.56 - 75 grain Hornady (1 box based on the ratings and price on line.) and some 77 gr. Fiocci matchking hollow point to try. Will probably order some Magtec and/or MK262, if that doesn't work.

This is my dilemma. The 6.5 groups so small it should be against the laws of nature. The 5.56 is the exact opposite. Maddening to my rationale. I'm gonna try one of the ammos suggested. If that doesn't work will probably shop for a new barrel first then, I really don't know what to do.

    Ruger Precision Rifle Discussion

Thanks for the advice. I am having a difficult time understanding why I can get accurate 6.5 ammo and 5.56 seems to be crazy at this point. The twist rate should be good for nearly all weights at 1:7. Guess I just don't understand the wide spread at 100 yards with factory ammo. Maybe I am trying...

    Ruger Precision Rifle Discussion

I just picked up my second RPR in 5.56 for practice. My first RPR was in 6.5 Creed. The 6.5 is gnat hitting accurate at 100 and has been from the first round I put through it. It is really easy to make a multiple shot very small (1" or less) group. While I liked my 6.5 from the start, I am...

Absolute beginner here. Helped me. The only thing missing is the rate of hot air expansion. :-)

    Rifle Scopes S&B PM reticles

Thanks Vegas. Believe it or not, I really don't mind the Leupold. I learned to shoot with it. It seems balls on accurate. The main difference between the two to me from limited comparison is the amount of light that gets through the S&B. It's really a lot brighter. I really like both reticles as...

    Rifle Scopes S&B PM reticles

Thank you both for your reply. Maybe I can ask for some more advice. I am about to have 2 RPR's. One in 6.5 and 1 in 5.56. I am keeping the 5.56 in fl for training/fun shooting and taking the 6.5 to my daughters house in Colorado and leaving it there. I am going to use the 6.5 when I am out...

    Rifle Scopes S&B PM reticles

All, Just got one of these with the P4FL reticle. Anyone know where I can get a diagram that describes each of the lines and what they measure? The ones at the bottom are the ones that I am referring to. Thanks in advance.
