    I always thought the idea of a "trainer" was a rifle that mimics a full-bore rifles characteristics; action, safety location, general dimensions. I never really think "trainer" when I see a macked out 10/22. Not saying they wont let you reach out a couple hundred yards, or shoot ok, or whatever...

    If Im thinking back to my MKII correctly, the front of the bolt kinda lines itself up if you got it close. The bolt handle has to line up with the slot in the receiver. The safety has to be "off", so youcan pull the trigger and drop the sear. Assuming it has the accutrigger?

    You dont have to pay to keep it, and you ain't gotta shovel shit out from underneath it. If you like it and shoot it once in a while, keep it. If you never shoot it, or dont really care much for it, let it go. I dont know what to tell you about the price.

    Mine? I'll have to get some pics up. Pretty good, I'd say. Its replaced the Savage MK II FV I had built up right after the "tactical rimfire precision" article over at 6mmbr brought this kind of shooting to my attention.

    Yeah, but honestly, I'd prefer drilled and tapped with the lowest profile bases I could find. But, thats just me.

    Nice work, looks great. I've got a 6-18x VXII on my 513T. I should've drilled and tapped mine like dfoosking did (and I still may one day) but I'm running it with the receiver grooves and Millet rings without any trouble.

    Re: Best small bore ground pad I dont use anything like that, but how about mil-surp sleeping pads? Theyre about 1/2" or maybe 5/8" thick. Theyre pretty cheap, too, so if you needex to you could glue them up with carpet tape or something to get a custom size.
