Just got a b&c stock for my first bolt action.. Some questions

I removed all the slag I could find and still crooked. I'm thinking it can be fixed when I bed it but the action screws will obviously be cockeyed in the holes will that be a problem? Here's some better pics.

Just got a b&c stock for my first bolt action.. Some questions

I actually think it may be the bedding block on mine.. I realized last night that when I push down on the tang (how it would be if the action screws were torqued down), thats when the barrel moves to the right. I emailed b&c, they said check for paint etc and that just a little bit would be...

Gunsmithing Cocking piece digging a ditch on the cocking ramp

Thats a good call, I think I'll pull the firing pin apart tonight and see if I can round the edges a bit on the cocking piece and polish it up.

Gunsmithing Barrel crooked on bell and carlson stock

Thanks for all the replies. I'm shooting about 3/4 to 1 moa. It's my first bolt gun so it shoots better than I can at this point. I'm just not going to worry about it. I'm getting ready to bed the action so I just wanted to get some opinions before I bed it. The barrel is still completely free...

Gunsmithing Barrel crooked on bell and carlson stock

Nah not the action. It's a 700. It's honestly a good stock for the money but poor workman ship at the same time. Which I understand, they can only do so much for what they charge.

Gunsmithing Barrel crooked on bell and carlson stock

I can get it centered without the action screws in but when I torque them down the barrel pulls to the right. Anyone else had this problem or know how to fix it? Trying to figure out where I would have to remove material. Thanks!

Just got a b&c stock for my first bolt action.. Some questions

Hey guys so i noticed that I can get the barrel centered without the action screws and bdl in but when I tighten down the screws the barrel pulls to the right. Any ideas how to fix this? I did a google search and read that you can remove material in certain areas to remedy it but haven't figured...

Gunsmithing Cocking piece digging a ditch on the cocking ramp

It was part of a different thread about lightening bolt lift so I made a separate thread for this. The action is pretty smith now I just wanted to make sure the ditch wasn't hurting anything.

Gunsmithing Cocking piece digging a ditch on the cocking ramp

Been doing that since I got it. It only has 60 rounds down the pipe and maybe 200 dryfires.

Gunsmithing Redneck remington 700 firing pin spring removal

I recently used a similar method to remove a stuck case and wanted to disassemble my firing pin for learning purposes and this was the first thing to come to mind. If you have to swap springs in a pinch and don't have a tool hopefully this helps you out. You'll need a reloading press, a 1/4"...

    Gunsmithing Remington 700 stiff bolt

Hey guys so I polished it a bit and cycled it a bunch and the cocking piece is still digging a ditch on the camming surface even with grease. Any idea how to remedy this?
