Upgrade ?'s: Dillon presses and drill press trimmers?

That is the best idea. I had a strong mount on one of my 650's, how anyone can think mounting a casting on two "Z'ed" 11ga sheet metal brackets is stronger that mounting a casting directly to the bench is beyond me.

Upgrade ?'s: Dillon presses and drill press trimmers?

You can seat then crimp in two stations and retain a powder check with the GSI feeders, see 2nd video in post #33. Because they are not only the bullet feeder but a machined billet tool head it also makes them a pretty good deal on the 1050. A regular 1050 tool head from Dillon is $200 by the...

Upgrade ?'s: Dillon presses and drill press trimmers?

A powder check fits in station #6. What is this "shit in the way" you are talking about? The only thing in the front of a 1050 is the tube full of cases, the only thing it blocks the view of is station #1. There is absolutely nothing that blocks the view of #7, where you would seat a bullet.

Reasonable accuracy expectations .223 on progressive

Even with my mixed brass, bulk 55g FMJ stuff, kids who have never shot a center fire rifle, have no problem hitting a 9" steel plate @ 300yds at my "farm" range. Sort your brass and use "good" bullets and you can do sub MOA pretty easy (if you and the rifle can). This is my .223 press...

Upgrade ?'s: Dillon presses and drill press trimmers?

I prefer to have at least two complete presses. That way all you have to do is scoot over to the one that is setup for the correct primer size and you have at least one of any spare part you might need at anytime.

Upgrade ?'s: Dillon presses and drill press trimmers?

My solution was to just buy a bunch of extra powder bars and set/label them for the different loads. You get two with each press (large and small) it only takes backing off one bolt to swap them out.

Upgrade ?'s: Dillon presses and drill press trimmers?

748, TAC, Xtermanator and other ball powders meter a lot better than extruded powders do. I have loaded .223 on 650's but prefer a 1050. Here is one of mine 100 rounds takes 2.5 minutes. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=La83ZVKnBzw My computer controled version is not as fast but it will run...

6mm or 7mm BR for long range??

I have always liked hunting with the 7BR but never thought of it as a "long range" round. Every round that I consider "long range" have a lot more case volume than the BR cases do.

    Wanted: Brass Annealing Times

They can work well for many applications. Measuring the temprature of a case mouth inside a flame is not one of them. Just the distance from the object can change your readings greatly.

Giraud. If my brass doesn't need trimmed, what do you do?

If the case is "under" it may or may not hit the inside/outside, just depends on how much under. You can only trim more off the length if you lower the cutter enough that the center of the rim is cut. Think of the inside and outside chamfer as the sides of a "V" the length is changed by the...

Giraud. If my brass doesn't need trimmed, what do you do?

If the case does not need to be trimmed the cutter won't cut it. No magic here.

    Wanted: Brass Annealing Times

If you are using propane don't let the flame change from blue to orange. Time will depend of how you have the torch set and what case you are annealing.

Recommend me a portable drill for case trimming/prep functions

A good corded drill is portable and never needs batteries. Small drill presses can be had new for under $100 and can be carried with one hand to stow and get out. Before you buy a cordless, take a look at replacement batteries. They are great is you need them and use them often and I own a...

    Powder coated cast lead bullets?

This is my process with the hi-tek coating. Bullet coating part II This is my Homemade casting machine. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z2U1ujg_nzo This is my homemade sizing machine. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eANEMBS_V_0 However, it does depend a lot on, if you can get...

    Powder coated cast lead bullets?

I have found that powder coating is not as durable as Hi-Tek coating but it is better than a wax lubed lead bullet.

    Crappy groups AFTER annealing

I would guess more cases have been harmed than helped with a lot of annealing methods. If you get better results if you don't anneal them, I would suggest changing your method or just stop annealing them. FWIW if your flame is changing from blue to orange (it certainly is because you are...

300 blackout.... whats it good for?....?

While I don't think the 9mm is a good 1000 yard round either anything can be done. That is a carnival trick though. Hit anywhere on the steel plate and the ballon gets busted by a frag, hell you can even skip it into the plate. They did the same thing with folks shooting the blade of an...

300 blackout.... whats it good for?....?

I think that is the keyboard commando stuff he was talking about. A solid opinion on a product you don't have for a use you have never used one for. Back on topic, it is a great use for .223 brass with split necks.
