Opinions on Dillon 550 vs 650

I have both and the 650 is faster loading, the 550 is faster to swap over. If I am loading large volumes or dealing with the chance of crimped primer pockets, I am generally using one of the 1050's though.

Subsonic .308 Load. Trail Boss or Titegroup?

This is sound advice. I wound up at 10 grains of Trailboss with my combination but you want to work the load down to avoid stuck bullets.

    SUBS with large case volume

That is a pretty blanket statement. Lots of factory loads and load data in many books are under a 50% fill. I am not sure how many years it has been since I loaded a 38 SPL with a powder slow enough that I filled it more than half way.

    SUBS with large case volume

I have a 308 SS load with 10 g of trail boss with one of my cast and coated 150's, the case is over 50% full of powder. There are people who have machined reduced capacity cases but I would just buy or build another gun and I have CNC equipment. Anything can be made, how much do you want and...

    setting up benchsource annealer

I also don't run a regulator off the "big" tank and have a QD fitting on the manifold so the connection is instant.

    setting up benchsource annealer

The easiest way to know would be to remove the zinc using electrolysis then see if the flame changes color. We know something changes to cause the flame to change color. I don't think his guess is all that bad, zink melts at 780 deg and the flame color changes right after a 750 deg temp...

300 blackout.... whats it good for?....?

What energy benefits? A 230g 45 cal bullet going subsonic has more energy than a 220g .30 cal bullet at the same speed. Not only that but you don't even have to reload to get a 255g SS 45 acp load...

That sounds like problem solved, if there is enough interest.

Petition to Remington - Produce 260 Brass

The best way to get someone to build something is to get enough orders for said something. People want to buy a cheap car that gets 40 something miles to the gallon, Honda makes the CRX, Ford makes the Fiesta, etc. they only quit making things when folks stop buying them.

300 blackout.... whats it good for?....?

I would say it is on par with the 30-30 and 7.62x39 (just a bit slower) but can be mag fed better Out of an AR and sounds cooler. The concept has been around for more than 20 years. 221-300, 300 fireball and 300 whisper were the ones that paved the road and more or less the same thing. The...

    Any 37mm Reloading enthusiasts?

I posted that scarcasticly as I thought he was talking about a flare launcher. That one actually uses compressed air. The "tank" is an old hot water heater, 40 gallon. It is cheap to reload though. The BP mortars work similar to shooting anvils in the air. A two inch diameter hole, two...

    Any 37mm Reloading enthusiasts?

Never loaded for the 37mm. Here is my 217.49mm launcher with 308,000 grains of projectiles (or 44lbs). Bowling ball cannon - YouTube

Anyone ever get nervous pulling the trigger on your first ever re-loads?

Never on reloads but I did the "tree/string" thing to test out my 50 BMG after I built it.

    bullet fact or fiction?

It's true. Some guns won't even cycle with some bullets, while others seem to like all of them. Same is true for different bullet styles with the same brand. For example I loaded some "varmit" bullets made by Speer, way back when most .223's were bolt guns and had 1-14 barrels, the jackets...

Who makes the best annealer...? Why?

And orient the cases correctly as you stack them one at a time into the hopper. It allows you to walk away from it negating the fact that it takes twice as long to anneal each case but you still have to take the time to fill it at some point.

    Stainless-Topped Bench for reloading?

Mine is not stainless but it is steel and has no effect on powder scales. Depending on the type of stainless you have it may or may not have magnetic propertys but it won't make any difference either way. Thickness might though, I only used 1/8" steel for my table top so I made a 5" truss for...

Who makes the best annealer...? Why?

The difference is it only uses one torch so you have twice the cycle time and have to load cases by hand into the hopper, I used the Dillon collator off of one of my presses. Set the time/torches and just stop by for a second and dump more cases in the collator. Ted, this is a link to the...

Bench-Source Annealer - how to convert yours to run on one 10lb propane tank.

When I built mine, I used what I had on hand at the time. Cut the threaded fitting off of the top of empty and opened (shot the tank) throw away tanks, then welded 1/8" NPT fitting to it. Then gutted check valve part from the torches. Then threaded in brass brake line fittings. Then...
