Gunsmithing ARC Nucleus Savage prefit question

Just an update. Ted from ARC emailed me yesterday and said: Your gunsmith doesn't know what he's talking about. The Savage small shank thread is properly specified as 1.0625-20 UN 2A which can have a major thread diameter between 1.053 and 1.057 inches. Threads are controlled by pitch...

How Fast Is Too Fast With 140gn ELDM And RDF 6.5 Creedmoor

I also wanted to mention. I did some testing with other bullets and in my rifle I found that the RDF 140 grain bullets had more velocity than the 140 ELD's and 142SMK with the same charge weight in my rifle

How Fast Is Too Fast With 140gn ELDM And RDF 6.5 Creedmoor

Last year I shot BWRS matches with 140RDF bullets using RL16. I have a 26" prefit Tikka barrel from PVA. It is a button rifled barrel from Spencer/Masterpiece arms I believe. I did my initial load developement without a chrony, just looking for pressure signs. When I did test it I found I...

    6.5Creedmoor/H4831SC

My 6.5 Creedmoor load with H4831SC is 42.5gr with a 140 ELD, Hornady brass, and Fed LR gold medal match primers. This is an accurate load but only 2656fps in my 26" PVA Tikka prefit barrel. I could get .5MOA easily with 5 shot groups, and I also shot some sub MOA 20shot groups rapid fire with...

    6.5 Grendel

I'll check my records when I get home. I worked up a load with 8208 as well. I'll let you know what it was. I found I got better velocity and accuracy in my rifle with the CFE223.

Gunsmithing ARC Nucleus Savage prefit question

I'm looking at getting a Savage prefit barrel ordered to go with the American Rifle Company Nucleus action that I've got ordered. On ARC's website they says: "The barrel thread specification for Nucleus is 1.063 – 20 UN 2B making it compatible with many off-the-shelf barrels such as Savage...
