Hunting & Fishing Head Shot Wednesdays

And just like that we're back. Hunting season is upon us once again so we'll likely see a lot more of these very soon………… Unfortunately you can't see the head shot in this photo. The last three shots happened quickly and all inside of 20 ft. Only one found it's mark. I guess I suck but...

    Gradous gunsmith class.....Again

It's a 6.5x47 That with any brake on it would shoot like a 22 Personally I would have preferred ole Joe run the Micro though ;-)

    Gradous gunsmith class.....Again

Robert does know his stuff. I really liked that stock a lot. I called Manners up and ordered one Monday. I have some photos of Robert and I at the "Think Tank" but I was forbidden to post them ;-) Joe it was great to see you as always. Hope your son enjoys his little Killer.

Hunting & Fishing The snook are back!

I've only ever eaten one but it was fantastic. I've sent most of the keeps via UPS to my rod builder b/c he goes crazy over them and I like to keep him smiling.

Hunting & Fishing The snook are back!

I had a chance to zip the girls down to FL for Hannah's first trip to the beach so we loaded the gear and hit the road. A few years ago they had a bad freeze that supposedly killed 80% of the snook in the Sarasota area. Well…………..They're back! Every single fish we caught was 35-38"...

APA Gen II Fat Bastard & Little Bastard

It will look pretty much like what you see in the photo. It's pretty much a personal preference. I like the Gen I. That will always my 1st choice ………however I have a Gen II on my 338 b/c the barrel is too long to fit in the case. All I need is a wrench to pop it off and it fits in the case...

We take safety seriously at APA but I think my brother may be a little overboard! He said he'll have them finished for you guys as soon as he finishes suiting up for the space shuttle.

They are in final finish now. Jodie will be calling everyone as soon as they are all finished and packaged.

My only real concern on that is compounding concentricity issues. The more variables you add the greater opportunity there is for something to go wrong but mechanically it will certainly work. Unfortunately I have to state it that way to keep my butt out of hot water in case something did go...

It's right at 1". If you had a muzzle diameter over .950 or so I'd recommend the FB simply for cosmetic reasons.

Crush washers are junk. You can quote me on that. Sure they have a place but that place isn't on a precision platform. The Gen II Micro is only available in 1/2x28. You can thread a 30 cal 1/2x28 but it better be someone thats really on top of their game. When you get that close to the bore...

We are making them right now. I know we have complete sets but until they have a enough to fire up the park tanks they won't new finished. If there aren't some in finishing today they certainly will be by Monday.

You might need the Micro. It really depends on the diameter at the muzzle. The Gen I Micro in 9/16x32 can be installed easily on a muzzle diameter of .615

One of the first articles to show one of our brakes publicly was on the cover of "Special Weapons for Military & Police" issue #40 in 2006. The lower left hand corner shows a black and silver 338 Lapua with a Fab Bastard on it. We were making the brakes roughly 2 years prior to that. Unless...

it certainly is. You really don't need the FB on a 308 unless it's just a visual thing that you want. The Micro Bastard will destroy a 7 pound 7 mag's recoil so pretty much anything we make will eat a 308's lunch.

We are trying to do 5/8x24, 18x1 and 18x1.5 in the LB. The FB will have a 3/4x24 option. We just haven't had time to make the others yet.

That's not a problem if we had them in stock. I think we only have a few earlier prototypes that have a knurl on the nut. As far as opening the brake that isn't a problem. These brakes are sold caliber specific unless otherwise requested.

APA Gen II Fat Bastard & Little Bastard

Yes. If you scroll up you'll see a photo of one. That's the brake that started this entire deal. We were trying to make a brake for the 3 gun guys.
