AI AW vs 700 style actions ...which fails more?

Lowlight Thanks for posting the old school picture. Would be really cool to see a photo history of the AI products. There's probably some interesting stuff that most have never laid eyes on.

AI AW vs 700 style actions ...which fails more?

The only thing a patent guarantees is the ability to pursue enforcement. Licensing may or may not materialize in the end. Keep in mind not everyone with a patent has the resources to defend it. On another note. I'm curious why the AI action was never patented; Prior art, missed opportunity, or...

    Comprable alternative to 700 AAC-SD?

Call a Cabela's store and ask them to locate a Tikka T3 scout in 308. Some of the stores still had them in October for around $700. You might get lucky.

Airsoft tactical operator. My AI is a spring loaded BB gun.

AI AW vs 700 style actions ...which fails more?

Your comment was originally regarding spare parts. As for spare rifles, I'm sure different strokes for different folks applies. My familiarity is limited to one element within one branch. Guys are issued a suite of weapons. If a rifle goes down they may or may not have a direct replacement...

AI AW vs 700 style actions ...which fails more?

The armory is not always on the next corner when you're deployed in remote areas. Chances are AI would have your safe queen up and running faster than the armorer would get the actual combat guns back up.

AI AW vs 700 style actions ...which fails more?

How many real life trigger pullers, guys with their dick in the dirt, carry spare bolt gun parts on a mission? How many do you think have access to replacement parts like a bolt within 24-48 hours during a deployment?

    New AI 2014 MC

No experience with the new stuff, just curious from an engineering stand point why the new MC action is weaker or less soldier proof? Until proven otherwise AI has my full trust. I'm sure the design was geeked by engineers and analyzed with software before any prototypes were made. There was...

    Panic Buy AICS?

You can get an insert for the bottom of the chassis or go with the front spigot mount to install a rail on the AICS.

Masked I'm sorry we've failed to sell you on the AI platform. Just forget about the AI, it's nothing special. Build the custom swap barrel and be sure to use the Jewell trigger. This should give you an accurate and highly reliable platform that you'll enjoy for years to come.

AI AW vs 700 style actions ...which fails more?

There's probably far more than 20-30x the number of 700's compared to AI's so lets take actual Remington manufactured actions off the table for the sake of discussion. How many Stiller, Defiance, Surgeon, Badger, or any other aftermarket actions exist compared to the AI? I'd wager AI has more...

AI AW vs 700 style actions ...which fails more?

Incorrect. Go watch the video in the beginning of this thread. The rifles you'll see giving up the ghost are exactly the custom setups you feel are in the same league with AI. The playing field is not equal.

AI AW vs 700 style actions ...which fails more?

Scroll up and read the title of this thread. Reliability is the difference between AI rifles and the 700 platforms regardless of who smithed it. It's that simple.

AI AW vs 700 style actions ...which fails more?

I have read the thread and just searched it trying to find the "myriads" of posts discussing the superiority of AI barrels. Couldn't find anything but maybe my search fu isn't good. Hypothetically, Are we talking AI barrel vs stock Remington barrel or AI barrel vs custom barrel? Some AI's come...

AI AW vs 700 style actions ...which fails more?

With AI being an English company and all ... maybe calling it King is fitting?!?! Barrels are consumable, why shift discussion in that direction when this thread is about action reliability? Why can't the action be copied? Didn't Badger pretty much copy the AI action with their 2008? While...

AI AW vs 700 style actions ...which fails more?

Why are they obviously aiming at match shooters? Perhaps those are simply popular calibers enjoyed by many long range shooters. In the grand scheme of things, match shooters are a very small slice of the pie.

    2014 AICS AX right folding?

Would this include retrofitting a 1.5 chassis into a right side folder? Have an AE MkII fixed with a pinned rear section that I would like to convert into a folder without cutting and welding. My only feedback would be cost related. Recently AINA quoted me $1500 to convert from fixed to folder...
