Getting in shape for an elk hunt

From my experience, lots of hiking with a pack, but don't go much heavier than 40lb or you risk injury while training. Also, get good boots and break them in while you are working up to longer hikes. Bad boots and unprepared legs and feet have probably ruined more hunts than anything else...

Button rifled barrel - 6 Creedmoor barrel life?

First off, if you're worried about your barrel and you have the means to replace it, I would do it for the peace of mind. I have started matches with questions about my barrel wear and it plagued me the whole match. Sometimes it was the barrel and sometimes not. You want to be focused on your...

AI AT/AX308 Barrel lock screw torque

Just my experience, but I found that consistently torquing the barrel into the receiver made more difference in return to zero.

    308 subsonic IMR 4064

My understanding is that it would be dangerous to lower your powder level to the point where you would be subsonic. Too little powder in a case can lead to secondary detonation and blow up your gun. Get some Trail Boss and you'll find a ton more info

Where is the "wife's rifle" thread?

I've managed to hold off on the girly colors, because we may be getting new rifles in the future, but eventually it's going to happen... My wife's rifle is the one in front, AI AE MKII with 24" .308 barrel with Benchmark Tactical Brake, Viperskins and a March 3-24x42mm. She's shooting 155 SMKs...

    Rifle Scopes March-F 3x-24x52...

I know I hang on some of these threads when I'm waiting on feedback from a new product, so I feel like I should post something about the 3-24x52 that I've been running for about 2 months now. I've owned 2 of the 42mm versions and never had a hiccup from either, one now resides on my wife's rifle...

***JC Steel Tactical Rifle Summer Shootout---July 20th---Sign up Now

A big Thank You to Jake and the crew who set up this match. Everybody had a great time, and the match ran really smooth. Thankfully the clouds gave us some relief from the direct sunlight, and we were able to focus on shooting! I really enjoyed hanging out with my squad for the day, we had three...

2014 Steel Challenge near Kettle Falls WA

Once again, Carl and the crew put together a great match, for a great cause. My wife and I had a fantastic weekend, and I want to thank everyone that made her feel welcome and encouraged her to try it out. This match was a challenge, for sure, but my teammate and I worked well together and shot...

    AI AE MKIII skins question

Nope, the bolt cutout is different on AICS skins. Your AE needs either AE or AW skins, they are the same cutout.

    Jackets

I have to admit to this addiction as well... though, for me it's jackets and pants. I like having confidence in my gear, it's the same logic that I used to justify my AI! Arc'teryx LEAF: Alpha Jacket and Pants Combat Jacket(Canada) Sphinx Pant Chimera Shirt Rigger's Belt Gamma MX...

    AI AE Mk III Question

The lock ring that your bolt head fits into is a replaceable part on the AI actions. It's pinned into the reciever, and you're seeing one of the pins under the scope base.

    What jacket to get?

I wouldn't use the Wraith for hunting, it's very thin and I'd be worried about tearing it in the brush. It also wouldn't provide much warmth. If you can afford the Arcteryx LEAF lineup, the Alpha jackets are available in MC, and those are bombproof hard shells. For warmth, I'd layer underneath...

I just found another 40+ photos and uploaded them to the same album, mostly stuff off the rooftop barricade. I tried to do a quick and dirty zoom and crop, but I can't go much farther without it getting pretty grainy...
