    Rifle Scopes Mrad IS Meteric

Only if you slice them into 60 pieces (minutes of apple).

    Rifle Scopes Mrad IS Meteric

I can understand that all too well because I've been in the same situation, just from the other side of things. Put me in front of a lathe or milling machine with imperial dials and I'm about as blind as a bat without a calculator. :D This is why it's so important to understand the whole...

    Rifle Scopes Mrad IS Meteric

The point in pointing out that mrad is not metric (if I remember correctly it's older than the metric system) isn't to convey some historic fact (it is indeed part of the SI system and defined as [m/m]), but rather for educational purposes. Americans tend to say "metric" when in reality they...

    Rifle Scopes Mil based targets

This. Just put your inch-based target at a distance of 1,000 or 10,000 inches and it will be a perfect fit for your mrad-based reticle.

Rifle Scopes Best way to take spray paint of a scope?

Remember that acetone or other solvents may not be friendly to the o-ring seals (or their lubrication), so wiping instead of soaking is advised.

How many shots each? How did you determine average POI?

Rifle Scopes Why all the craze for reticles in the first focal plane

That's what I don't get. You have a "nice looking" scale to look at, but you can't use it because it's not to scale. Ever wonder why noone is offering a set of rulers with fine scales for good visibility and bigger scales for low light conditions? Because it wouldn't be a ruler anymore.

Rifle Scopes Why all the craze for reticles in the first focal plane

What parts of an SFP reticle would you "use" in lowlight at medium magnifications? Anything but the center aiming point is useless because the dimensions are off, and the center of an illuminated FFP reticle is easy enough to see at all magnifications. It really boggles my mind how people like...

Rifle Scopes In need of some basic understanding of MOA vs Mil

Seems like you're keeping your drop charts in inches. Don't. Use mils (or moa), those are the units your scope turrets and reticle (hopefully matching units) are calibrated in, and you can use them directly to adjust your POI. That whole conversion clusterfuck of inches of drop to adjustment...

    Rifle Scopes Hensoldt 3.5-26x56

However off topic this may be, but it always lightens my mood when I run across bits and pieces of sanity in a mostly not so sane world. :)

Rifle Scopes NXS Beast vs. S&B PM II

Yes, that's including 19% VAT. Since the tax is the same for all of Germany, consumer prices are always listed including tax here.

Rifle Scopes NXS Beast vs. S&B PM II

The only dealer that lists the NF Beast in Germany currently is asking for €4098, which is US$ 5.283,96 as of today.

Rifle Scopes Level Scope to earth or level scope to gun then level as a set to earth?

Maybe I should have rephrased case b) to "having the scope offset sideways relative to the bore", because that is what counts (and it is a result of the canted mount/level scope situation). The resulting error is small when the angle and scope above bore height are small, but it is an angular...

Rifle Scopes Level Scope to earth or level scope to gun then level as a set to earth?

The situations when a) the rifle with a scope that is mounted level above the bore is canted together with the rifle b) the scope is mounted level but not centered above the bore produce partially different errors, but they both do produce errors (when shooting at/adjusting for different...

Rifle Scopes questions about updated 2012-2013 PREMIER 1-8X4 and other 1-8 options.

Bad news ist, there will be no Premier 1-8x24. Good news is, the rights to the design belong to Optronika and the scope will be made under the Optronika name. A modfied version with cosmetic design changes as well as sligthly reduced OAL (now 288mm), new low-profile turrets (locking in the...

Rifle Scopes This has got me scratching my head

So is the reticle "low" relative to the target or do you want to dial "up" on the turrets (like for making a correction for long range)? If the first is the case, you are hitting the zero stop and need to loosen the lever lock, spin the turret to 10 mils or however far ou need to go, close the...

Rifle Scopes What is the latest on Premier Reticles?

...that designed them in the first place, so what would they know about building them, right? :) Don't sweat it Paul, people like to rant and the internet is a convenient place to do so anonymously.

Rifle Scopes Parallax knob adjustment question?

The parallax knob focuses the target image on the reticle plane, that's why it makes perfect sense to call it "side focus". What happens when adjusting parallax isn't any different optically from focusing a camera lens on the film/sensor plane. If you have doubts about the parallax...

Rifle Scopes is there any reason to go mil anymore?

Excuse my slipping into German. Of course it's "radian" in English.
