I like my VPT. Shoot it in a long range silhouette match every month and usually score in the mid 30's; 10-targets at four distances of 50m off-hand and prone for 100m, 150m, and 200m. Did the Yo Dave trigger spring swap which put the trigger pull at 2lbs from 3.5lbs factory. Just got a the...
I loaded a Magpul AC 762 5rd mag with six 22 Nosler cases before it started to bind. Cases held tightly without any modifications. This doesn't guarantee reliable feeding but it's a start.
I chose 260 because of Lapua brass but thats now a moot point. I'm running 2900fps with a 140gr AMax and H4350 out of a 28" Bartlien 8-twist. I load pretty long, just 0.010" of jump.
Running a YoDave spring and getting 1.5lb trigger pull. I shoot Wolf Match out of my 16.5" VPT and get 3/4" 5-shot groups at 100yds consistently. Decided not to rebarrel because of diminishing return.
I have the 16.5" VPT and once you add a suppressor its still shorter and quieter than the 24" :). Have no issue knocking down NRA Ram silohuettes at 200m.
Geissele Hi-Speed Match and Superlatve Arms Adjustable Gas Bleed-off Clamping GB. Geissele is a two-stage hence the long take-up vs a 24G is a single-stage. If you want zero "take-up" go with an Elftmann as it is an adjustable single-stage with the least creep and shortest reset.
No scientifically measured but I would guess 30-40% recoil reduction with the can vs just the brake. Been running 338LM with just a TBAC brake for 2yrs and once I got the 338 Ultra it was a huge difference. Also run a 30BA on a 300WM and it makes the recoil feel like a 308Win with the 30BA...
I'm running a TBAC 338 Ultra on a Desert Tech SRS (260Rem, 308Win, 300WM, and 338LM) and its a lot quieter than any of my other cans (30BA, Saker 762, Hybrid, Dead Air Sandman S) regardless of caliber shot through it.
I use a Argos BTR 8-34x56 on a CZ 455 Precision Trainer at a local Long Range Silhouette Match. I've got my turrets dialed in for 50m, 100m, 150m, and 200m. Shot the match twice and the tracking is spot on.
Adding 7+ inches to the end of a weapon system is always going to effect the way you maneuver it but it is purely subjective if its going to be awkward. I built a 10.5" AR Pistol so I don't have to go through the hassle of an SBR Stamp. Just my two cents.

You'll have the same issue with the AR308 as you do with the AR15 trying to cycle subs.
Fortunately my AR308 build already has an oversized gas port on the barrel, JP LMOS Carrier and Silent Captured Spring....so I'm ready to play with weights for this system.
Also, once you've tested the load to ensure it is stabilizing, having a suppressor on the weapon increases the back pressure. So before you play with weights you're weapon may already cycle the round. I'm still waiting for my Saker but I will be testing my subsonic handloads through my Osprey...
