Tikka T3 - Not Only for Hunters..A Viable Match Option

I wouldn't mind running Tikka's Sporter version either! Ugly colored stock but it looks comfy as hell and has the thicker varmint style barrel. One of these days..

Use of Angle Cosine Indicator (ACI)

Trust me when I say this, it's not going to make a difference. You have to get to a pretty steep angle and a good distance before the shift becomes substantial.

What do you do with your range time?

Ok, here's a discussion topic for you guys. What target sizes do you guys usually practice shooting at (1 MOA, 2 MOA, or more?) when you go shoot? Feel free to include distance as well as shooting position (prone, slung kneeling, some kind of barricade type support etc). I know there are a lot...

It's the same action, it will fit.

Rifle Scopes First time Shooter, questions about zeroing

You should bore-sight it before zeroing. Basically just take the bolt out, look down the bore and orient an object or a target maybe 50-100 yards away in the center of the bore, and then adjust the reticle to aim at the same spot. If you do it correctly, that should at least put you on paper at...

Gunsmithing Bolt Lug Contact of High End Customs: Surprising Results

So if I were to repeat this test with the trigger assembly removed, since I can see where you're coming from on that count, would it be a more valid test? Seeing as that I do not have access to any of these jigs or fixtures is there another way to simulate the effects? Cleaning rods etc? I still...

Gunsmithing Bolt Lug Contact of High End Customs: Surprising Results

As do I. They shoot just fine, but that's not really the issue at hand here.

Gunsmithing Bolt Lug Contact of High End Customs: Surprising Results

I really don't think bolt lug contact should, not saying that it doesn't, but shouldn't vary enough to raise an entire lug from it's contact surface from using the special tool and a fired piece of brass. The bolt closes on a piece of brass when you're about to fire does it not? So under...

Gunsmithing Bolt Lug Contact of High End Customs: Surprising Results

But you do in fact lap the lugs? It would be interesting to see what results you would get using the same test on any of the rifles whose lugs you've lapped, just for curiosity's sake. What if all the tests were repeated with no cartridge in the chamber for the ejector to push on and came...

    Rock solid chassis!!!!!!

I can only answer your first question regarding the torque settings. Todd recommends 65 in/lbs, I've always used 55 in/lbs though and it shoots just fine.

Rifle Scopes Return to zero of rings (Seekins)

Using a torque wrench, I'm usually within about .1 to .2 MRAD. I even took the barreled action out of the stock and took the scope off and when I put it back together I was only about .2 high and .2 left. Needless to say, I was impressed
