Hornady 150 gr FMC in AR-10

I have two AR-10 rifles; one a Ar-10 /w std 20" chrome lined barrel the other an AR-10T /w 20" SS barrel. Both of these rifles easily meet the accuracy standard advertised by Armalite. With SMK in 168 and 155 gr the Std AR-10 shoots about 1 MOA or a little more with the powders I've tried...

Any difference in LC brass from different years?

I'm not retired yet and maybe never will be if our political leaders don't stop f*****g with the economy. I was referring to the only variable being the different years of LC brass ( and actually I should have added that the focus of my interest is really 308).

Any difference in LC brass from different years?

Have any of the experienced reloaders noticed any difference in the accuracy of the same load (as far as powder, primer, bullet) in LC brass from different years?

What Large Rifle Primers are you using for 308 semi-auto?

As I've mentioned numerous times I'm not new to reloading just new to reloading for 308 semi-auto. Over the years the only primers I've used for 308 bolt gun, 6.5 swede, 45-70, 30-06 bolt gun, 30-30,and 7mm-08 are either CCI-200, CCI-250 or WLR. Ive been using them so far in my brief career in...

    Hodgdon BL-C(2) in 308

Maybe that is the problem with the erratic nature of the pressure signs I seem to get with this AR-10. As I mentioned I get excess pressure signs (mostly ejector imprint) with loads that I've verified in my bolt guns (with tight chambers) in the heat of August that you would think should be OK...

New to processing 7.62 x 51 once fired brass; couple of questions.

Just received the primer pocket gauges and a couple of the plug gauges you recommended; They really take a lot of the guess work out of the equation.

    Hodgdon BL-C(2) in 308

I've been handloading for 30+ years (pistol, revolver, bolt gun, lever action, AR-15 in .223/5.56) but am new to handloading for .308 semi auto (mine is an Armalite AR-10). I'm not familiar with what you are referring to as "overgassed"; This pressure thing has got me baffled when it comes to...

That is pretty much what I was thinking as a starting point. Thanks for confirming

Tempurature testing of handloads; anyone ever try this?

I saw a link (I think it was on this forum) to a small maker of ammo that was demonstrating why they used certain powders because of their lack of sensitivity to temperature extremes. The Demonstrator was obviously in a very warm climate and was demonstrating identical loads of H4895 at the...

    Hodgdon BL-C(2) in 308

Actually I'm planning on putting some 308 away for hard times. I've got a pretty good supply of LC brass and 150 gr FMC bullets and WLR primers. I'm not really interested in tack driving accuracy (I load my bolt guns for that) just reasonable accuracy from a Std. AR-10 /w chrome lined 20"...

    Hodgdon BL-C(2) in 308

I just picked up a pound of Hodgdon BL-C(2) and was going to load up some Hornady 150 gr FMC in LC brass for my AR-10. I have several reloading manuals but was wondering if anybody has any first hand experience (velocity, pressure signs, accuracy) with this combo. Thanks.

New to processing 7.62 x 51 once fired brass; couple of questions.

Thanks for the heads-up. I sectioned a couple of the WCC cases and found no evidence of incipient separations; also decapped several more and carefully looked at the circumference of the primer pockets and believe these are once fired as advertised. I think the primer pockets in these cases are...

New to processing 7.62 x 51 once fired brass; couple of questions.

I have a Dillon primer pocket swaging tool; I also worry about over-doing the swage and enlarging the pocket. I set the tool to put the slightest radius around the circumference of the pocket opening. As a matter of fact I tried priming some of the WCC cases I was referring to without swaging...

New to processing 7.62 x 51 once fired brass; couple of questions.

Just received two lots of 500 once fired cases from two different sellers. When de-capping them, with cases head stamped WCC, the primers remove with noticeably less effort than the LC cases and after minimally swaging of the primer pockets, Winchester large rifle primers seat with noticeably...

    Once fired 308/7.62 brass?

I received my brass from Everglades. I started to process it. The mix of headstamps seems to agree with what you reported. I don't have a Redding neck bushing die; but I do have a std. Redding FL die and a Redding SB die. I sized some of the LC brass with the std. Redding FL die and it seems to...

    Once fired 308/7.62 brass?

No1: Thanks for the info. I placed an order for 500 pcs. of 308 brass last night from Everglades to see how they are. My Toy

    Once fired 308/7.62 brass?

Thanks for the info; just ordered a batch of 308. I'll let you know what mix of headstamps I get.

    Once fired 308/7.62 brass?

I'm new to gas gun reloading and am looking for some 308/7.62 brass. Widener's has once fired LC in stock but I have heard that this is brass that has been through a full auto weapon and some people say it is really stretched and may have loose primer pockets. To anybody that has actually used...

Case life in 308 gas guns?

Assuming you load to reasonable pressure and don't anneal case mouths: How many times do you reload 1. commercial unfired brass and 2. mil spec unfired brass in your M1A or AR-10 before you toss the cases or relegate them to some other use? I've reloaded bolt gun and lever gun for years but am...
