    Longrifles Inc. "The Widow" .308

NICE gun!!!!! It's definitely a shooter. Tanks for the post, as I'm getting ready to have my first custom done, and was looking at Longrifles.

    Imperial sizing wax.

Lizard Litter, from a pet store. Smaller pieces of walnut shell. To qualify: I heard/read this in one of the gun mags. I gave my tumbler to a friend when I got a sonic for Xmas. Wish I hadn't!

    Best Barrel maker?

thanks for the input. Checking the sites.

    Imperial sizing wax.

just my "theory" I haven't heard or read of it. Just my over obsessive thoughts or maybe a self justification, for the blisters on my fingers, when i'm wiping my 600th case of the day. Man I miss my tumbler. Only 250 to go, so ....... also ,looking at my die, there is a good sized ring of wax...

    Best Barrel maker?

I know, I know..... I've been on the site, for a few years, now. BUT, I'm still a virgin... please be gentle. Just trying to avoid calling Superior Tactical whatever, with out this boards feed back.

    Best Barrel maker?

Finally going to get a 700 "worked on". What/who makes the best, and suggestions on who should do the work. I've done enough ladder tests to, to conclude that this gun won't shoot.

    Imperial sizing wax.

Oxidation I found that some of my "not so thoroughly wiped of cases" turned dull- looking, after a while. Kind of a slower process, but akin to waxing a car. Also , I bet you're gonna get a hell of a "wax build up", in your chamber, if you don't. Now that I'm back to doing volume reloading, I...

    Also looking at a Savage-12BTCSS?

Looks like a nice one to break the ice with. I like the stock. In 223, for a mid range gun, and trainer. Any one have thoughts? Also looking at a Browning X-bolt, in 223.

FL sizing: need some serious help

I'm LATE to the Party. Here"s how to use One-Shot, Properly. SHAKE IT. Get it warm, in your hand, and spray..............on your garden clippers, squeaky wheels, etc. It's no good for sizing, in my book. I stuck too many cases with it. Sizing wax is the way to go. I put the shell in the holder...

    308 brass sources?

I got 3k Lc once fired, from Brass bombers. Cleaned, deprimed and swaged, for $90/500. They were sold out of the "better" Long range stuff. Get that, if you can. The batch I got was supposedly fired in a machine gun, and stretched a little, which would reduce case life.

    223 Twist question.

223 with 1 in 10 twist. Max bullet weight? I found an older "new" Browning X-bolt Varmint Special, at my LGS. Nice little gun. Laminated thumbhole stock and stainless action and barrel. I know it won't shoot the heavier bullets, but can't remember what the Max would be for a 1 in 10. Thoughts...

Browning X-Bolt Varmint Special 1/10 Stainless?

I had to search several sites until I found an older review of the gun, which only gave the basic specs but no shooting review. Maybe I'll jump over to the reloading forum......

Browning X-Bolt Varmint Special 1/10 Stainless?

Thanks, but this one is a" Varmint Special" X-bolt, with a stainless barrel, and a laminated thumbhole stock with vents in the fore end. Think the guy said it was discontinued. Looked it up and the specs mentioned a 1 in 10 twist. My Remmy is a 1 in 9, which I understand will not stabilize a...

Browning X-Bolt Varmint Special 1/10 Stainless?

LGS has one and I pawed it. .223. Nice, but I have NO knowledge on them. 1/10 is good for 55 grns.? but not heavier? Couldn't get the brain to fire/remember.[Could be age or medication] Looking for "another 223 bolt gun" besides my 700. Any input , as always. is appreciated.

Need help with jamming in barrel

Different bullets can, or do have different profiles. OAL does not account for that. Measuring to the ogive does, and the gauges mount to your caliper. Good luck.

Any hope at all for an M1 carbine?

I picked up a couple "older" 44 mag carbines. I think they're Rugers. When I was looking for an M1, they were pretty pricey, so I got the 44s. Same basic lite carbine persona, with a lot more punch. I haven't pulled one out and shot it, for quite a while, but I remember that they were a bit...

    GAP-10 "Finicky chamber"?

Wow. Some body dug this out of the way-back. Interesting thought about the adjustable block, but mine is shooting great, now, when I take her out. I treat her like ice cream. Only for the special occasion, when I deserve a treat. Focusing on my 223s, these days, with the powder issues the way...

To those with camo stocks and cerekoted metal

Guess I'll have to rethink my camo pattern orange hunting vest, we in the east need to wear so we don't get shot.

    28" barrel .308 win

I've never understood the draw of chopping a barrel on a "long range" gun. Yeah, we all like to fiddle with our guns, and customize, to our tastes, but when shortening a barrel drops velocity, I say no thanks. I spent a lot of change on a 300 Win Mag, to gain precious velocity. A lot of guys...
