    Pistol OCW test/results/observations

I didn't do any "shopping", for price. Just walked into Cabelas. They had Raniers. New store to our area and I HAD to see what they had.I also use Berry's . nice thing about the lighter loading is I don't worry about a .2 grn. variation hurting my gun. For full loads, I get picky. I use an...

    Masuer K98 Compatability question

Welcome to the hide. No beating this one with a stick. Good question, wrong thread, maybe. Try the Vintage Rifles. Lot's of guys with glasses, smoking pipes, and dusting off the old war horses there. Some are walking library's.

    Pistol OCW test/results/observations

Nice pistol. I did kinda what you did but more of a "function" test, recently. I wanted some lighter loads that wouldn't beat my guns up. I ended up at 4 grains Titegroup behind a 180 plated, for my .40's. A few years ago, I did an accuracy test for my .45 autos. I found that my guns liked...

    Am I wasting my time?

I did what you did. Brought home buckets full, before the crunch. No body leaves their brass, these days. I sorted some out for "good loads", then loaded the rest up with a lite load, for plinking/blasting. Nice to have several thousand rounds around. I figure the difference in case capacity...

Anybody care to explain this charge weight/POI ridiculousness?

Barrel harmonics. Plain and simple, for the 4 in POI shift. Same thing happens to me. Really "squirreled me", at first. Might have some trigger pull or bag issues in there, as well, with the horizontal moves. Could have some neck tension issues, too. Good luck.shoot some more, and see. He'll...

Accuracy of relitavly new savage not that good

I just shot my first Savage, and that was what I was thinking. might be the ammo or the shooter.Couldn't be the rifle.(@Josh, with humor, smiley face ). Don't feel bad. I bought a Browning X bolt, in 223. Supposed to be a "Special run of Varmint specials" I might be able to hit a groundhog , at...

    Seating 223 flat based bullets

Either lots of chamfering, or use the RCBS competition die, with the bullet "window". Those little bullets are damn small for my big fingers. Try some 35 grainers, for some REAL frustration!,

    45/70 Reduced Loads

OH, contrare, Sir! Lot's of loaders, here. Just not for 45-70. Not a popular "sniper" load. I love the cartridge, although I went the other way. I bought a Miroku/Winchester 1886, and shot the factory stuff. Too soft, for me, so I loaded up into the Marlin realm, by my book, and close to the...

    Headshots Vs Centre Mass

I think most of the discussions on this site ARE about marksmanship. Well, there is a lot of "gun building",and reloading talk , but only to support the main subject of accuracy. I'm just a civilian "paper shooter". As to where to place shots? Maybe you'll find your answer in the Law Enforcement...

    COAL for Factory Rem700?

I guess my smiley face didn't print. Didn't want to sound snotty. It's just that "they" say 1-3K off the lands is optimal. Some Benchrest guys shoot jammed, in the lands. Measuring your gun is the only way to know where you are. The tools are pretty inexpensive. Good luck.

    Rust?

Probably. Anything that will form a barrier, against the moisture. I think the plastic bag is just as crucial. Cold metal attracts condensation. Any way to keep the moisture out is good. I also li Ke those Glad food storage containers. Cheap and the bag can get holes after awhile. Good luck.

So, I decided to take apart my rifle.

Nice re- work. With your talents, I'm surprised you buy any " others" work.

    Remington 700 5R

I'll start you off. Welcome to the hide. I have 3 5rs. They're good guns. F class? Never done it. I'm just an old guy, that likes to shoot little groups. There's a thought, out there, that if you have a good gun and some talent, you can do anything the "big boys can".At least, you'll find your...
