    FF handguard length

I'm looking for a FF handguard. The Rainier Arms Evolution tickles my fancy (link below). I'm going to mount a bipod and like the looks of the rail on top of the handguard (even though I'm unlikely to use it). I'm an engineer so I find the triangular cutouts particularly appealing...

    Threaded barrel vs post-ban

Re: Threaded barrel vs post-ban I've decided to go ahead and send in the paperwork for a suppressor, so threaded barrel it is! Thanks guys, I genuinely value your input.

    Threaded barrel vs post-ban

Re: Threaded barrel vs post-ban Yeah, I am well aware I'll be getting a flash hider, rather than an actual suppressor (unless for some reason I decide that the novelty is worth $1000 + the $200 tax stamp).

    Threaded barrel vs post-ban

I ordered a Krieger barrel today for my varmint rifle (bunnies @ ~300 yards). I still have a few days to waffle over some details. 1) Threaded or not threaded - Other than the fact that I am immature and think having a suppressor would be cool, I can't really come up with an argument either...

    Krieger barrel worth it?

Re: Krieger barrel worth it? Okay, good to hear. I just ordered a pre-ban, HBAR, 223 wylde, 1:7.7, fluted barrel from them. Should have it around April.

    Show me your varmint AR

Show me what you have an what you love about your gun (and maybe what you would have done differently). I'm putting together a varmint AR and still need to purchase a number of components such as pistol grip, BCG (I know, terrible timing on this one), handguard, and various other bits. I know...

Better to spend $ on ammo or components?

Re: Better to spend $ on ammo or components? If you like being meticulous and tinkering (which I suspect you are if you're into target shooting) then reloading is the way to go.

    Krieger barrel worth it?

Re: Krieger barrel worth it? Thanks so much for the input guys. I've decided I'm going to stop deluding myself into thinking I can get this thing build by spring. I'm just going to order a krieger from krieger so I can get exactly what I want. This is what I've come up with: 20", 1:7.7...

    Krieger barrel worth it?

Re: Krieger barrel worth it? I'm definitely going to give Krieger a call. I like the idea of having a fluted barrel. Now I just need to determine if the difference between 223 rem and 223 wylde cambering has any impact in my application. Any thoughts?

    Krieger barrel worth it?

Re: Krieger barrel worth it? Thanks, excellent words of wisdom. I will order "The Competitive AR-15 Builder's Guide" and get a go/no go gauge. I'm just about ready to pull the trigger and get the barrel. One more question, other than $35, what is the difference between these barrels...

    Krieger barrel worth it?

I am considering a Krieger barrel: http://www.midwayusa.com/product/637159/...stainless-steel The fact this barrel is in stock is attractive because I had hoped to have the gun ready by late spring. A few questions: 1) It says gunsmith installation required, but it has the barrel extension...

To buy or not to buy

Re: To buy or not to buy It depends, are you willing to bet the $35 bucks on the prospect of things calming down, or do you think it is worth the $35 to get it now and have the part if some lame legislation gets passed? I personally spent the extra $40 just to be sure.

    SOTA Upper any good?

I am assembling a varmint rifle and was offered a SOTA assembled upper receiver for $100. I have two questions: 1) Does anyone have any experience with a SOTA upper 2) Should I buy the SOTA upper or pay an extra $30 and backorder a Daniels Defense assembled upper? Any input is be appreciated.

    "Assault" rifle prices since Newtown

Re: "Assault" rifle prices since Newtown I'm with the ones saying write your congressman. All I can say is thank god for the fiscal cliff, gun law is taking a serious back seat right now (except at the range and on forums like this).

    Varmint AR-15 barrel

Re: Varmint AR-15 barrel Oh, and for reference here is the list of other components I am considering, but I would like the focus of this thread to remain on the barrel. I'll ask about other components as I fine tune everything around the barrel...

    Varmint AR-15 barrel

I'm putting together a long range varmint gun for rabbits at 300-400 yards. This rifle will be my first gun for reaching beyond 100 yards. Here are my priorities for the barrel in order of importance. 1) accuracy 2) price (~$500, less would be nice) 3) weight (I'm young and can move a heavy...
