    Bergara HMR Pro Repeatable accuracy

My pro came with a 0.254” 3-shot factory target, and yes, it is repeatable. Outstanding rifles...

    Help the noob (1st rifle)

I have owned a RPR with a custom barrel, and own a Tikka CTR. I recently got a Bergara HMR pro. For me personally, I like the Tikka far more than I did the RPR, and the HMR pro far better than either. The Tikka does and RPR did print some nice groups with their preferred loads, but the HMR...

New guy looking for help on first rifle

Since it is your first precision rifle, there is always the chance that this hobby will not be for you. This might be a minor point, but certainly the Tikka, and probably the Howa, will hold their resale value far better than the RPR. I have a CTR and have had a RPR, both fine rifles.

What's your favorite mass produced rifle?

Before last week, I would have said Tikka CTR without reservation. Then I got a Bergara HMR Pro. Let’s just say it is legit. I’m still at the “wow” stage with it... I still love my Tikka, but the Bergara pro is definitely next-level.

    savage mark II TRR SR

I’m sure I’ll be in the minority, but I prefer the Savages. I had a couple of CZ’s, but sold them both and kept a MK II FVSR. As far as accuracy, it will totally be luck of the draw which shoots the best.

    Tikka vs XLR

For CTR/XLR route, you might want to know that the Pmag AC mags won’t work without modification.

    LRI chamber question

Thanks! I decided not to mess with the barrel, as I’m going to go to a little shorter/handier rifle for hunting. This rifle is listed in the classifieds now.

Hunting & Fishing Hunting with tripod Q’s

Same boat as above, the write up is intriguing, but the website doesn’t work for me. I plan on giving them a call, but do you have the medium or large tripod, and how well does the cradle work? What was the approx price? Any other options out there for a simple, non-attaching cradle? I’m...

Range Report Federal Premium 6.5 Creedmoor

Any more recent results with the “new and improved load”? I’ll be passing by a retailer tomorrow that has some in stock and I won’t be back that way tomorrow, so I’m debating on how much to get. My RPR has a LRI barrel with a short throat (-0.03” freebore) designed for Bergers, so this might...

    What ammo for long range?

Sorry, at least partially my fault it went off the rails... So to reiterate/get back on topic: Annie MPR Lapua Midas+ & CenterX for competition, SK Rifle Match and Standard+ for practice. Good lots of Midas+: 0.1”s and 0.2”s at 50, 2”-4” at 200y in a calm. More variability lot-to-lot with...

I meant that I concur with Tucker’s guess...

    thoughts on Prime Subsonic 22?

That would be my guess, too, but just a guess. Someone at Prime may very well tell you, if you’re interested enough to ask.

    What ammo for long range?

I’d say it depends on distance, and what your definition of MOA is. At 100, I agree, unless by “MOA” you mean every time you sit down and shoot (like we can do with our centerfires), in which case I think it’s tough to hold that claim up because of wind effects. If by “MOA” you mean a true...

You posted this while I was typing my response above... Obviously I concur, lol.

    thoughts on Prime Subsonic 22?

It sorta looks like RWS fieldline subsonic hp, If so, the sale price is a steal. The fieldline shot pretty good for me, but not as good as RWS target. Nowhere close to R50, but pretty solid.

    What ammo for long range?

I theorize that lot-to-lot variation explains why we believe everyone’s rifle supposedly has a different “preference.” I know that there are chamber differences, and that’s legitimate, but still...

    What ammo for long range?

That’s a fact. Ironically, the lot numbers for Lapua do literally mean more; add a “3” to the first two digits in the lot number to get the velocity (in meters, not feet, per second) at which it tested for the company. Most lots I had were 27 or 28, but as low as 26 or as high as 30. I...
