    I use Varget in my 18" 308 bolt action with great success! FWIW, 168gr bullets seem to group a little better in my rifle but obviously your rifle could prefer different.

    I had GAP make a barreled action & when I gave them my XLR, they went ahead & bedded the lug area. I've read you dont need to but if GAP recommended it....who am I to say no.

    Rifle Scopes Bushnell 6-24 and 3.5-21?

    I have the 6-24 & looking through the 3.5-21 the other day I just couldn't justify the extra money for it. They are both excellent scopes & its really up to you if the differences are worth the extra cost. Optic clarity seems to be pretty equal between the two, just my $0.02.

    Looking for advice on rifle options

    ^ agreed. I may look into some of the rifles Savage puts out. It has been my experience they have put out some damn accurate rifles "out of the box". If you are recoil sensitive, 223 will easily get out to 500yds with the right round.

    Personal preference. Do you like pistol grips, how much adjustment for LOP/cheek rest would you like? I would recommend sizing your options up and get behind both to see what fits the best.
